Ambushes 14.42: ....[ units are placed on table ]..when they first move, shoot,
or seen by enemy.

I can see where enemy are crossing the front of an ambushing unit out of
visibility of the enemy, but within charge range, in both tactical and march
moves without allowing a charge from ambush or to force enemy units to stop.

For example: Troops in ambush in woods with enemy moving across their front at
41 paces. As I read the rules, the unit in ambush can not say "stop moving" to
allow the unit in ambush to charge in the charge phase. Enemy units could
approach / march right past and the unit in ambush could not stop them.

Did you mean for ambushes to only stop those who spot the ambush? That seems a
bit passive for an ambush.

Unfortunately, at some point, there is no way to simulate truly simultaneous
movement in a table top game. What I 'meant' to do is to write the rule so as
to take care of 99% of situations and not write another paragraph for the 1% of
situations. I have never heard of, nor seen in playtesting, such a situation.

But, let's say that you have an ambushing unit in a woods lined up perpindicular
to your table edge and an enemy unit is marching by at 41p. If he ends the
march phase outside of the ambusher's charge range, that is because you had no
one to stop the enemy so that his flank was exposed to the ambusher when charges
came. This means, for the price of writing less rules, Warrior rewards 'setting
up' the ambush with a unit 'blocking' the path out of the 'kill zone'.
I am comfortable with that and don't have a problem with the fact that it is
possible that a marcher goes past a unit in ambush if there is no friendly unit
to stop it.

The alternative - which is an ambush 'preemption' - sounds good, I agree - but
is not in the rules.

The good news is - 14.0 isn't really 'rules' per se. It is ONE way to do a
competition battle. In the new rulebook, 14.0 will be greatly expanded and will
include many more options for tourney organizers to use. I will consider
including this in that format.
