Sounds like all this discussion of the x-rule and the terrain options are a
good theme for an article for SPearpoint!
Anyone one of you give it a go? Need it by April 2nd.

If there were to be an article I would want to clarify at least one
thing:
The original post wasn't about changing the terrain rules. I think
they're great - clever and elegant.
The original post was about a way - once all the terrain has been
placed - to adjudicate who must attack in those situations where both
players judge it not to be in their interest.
That way was to use a logistic point system based on roads, rivers
and wajor water features to judge who would starve first and so be
forced to attack or lose.
That said, the discussion was really helpful about how to avoid
stupid situations like we were in where Qin chariots were trying to
attack Alexander's pikes across a river.
