Hmmmmmmm...... Well, it was a long time ago, but I believe you have two
lines confused. Lamming was very similar to Minifig, but more robust and a
little better animated. I recall from the mid-late 70s my first (and perhaps
last) D and D character was a Lamming Highlander with Lochaber axe. I thought
it was a terrific figure, tho it had absolutely nothing even hinting at
facial detail.
Peter Laing was the 'father of 15s'- contemporary with, even a little
before, the Minifig strips. These were classic 'Q-tip' or 'lightbulb on a
stick' figures, with almost no detail anywhere. The Libyans and such, with
just a strip of 'cape' around them, were really pretty funny. People claimed
the old 'They look ok if you paint them up well', but it wasn't true.

So Ed- 'Hawktheslayer' ?? What up wi' dat?

Now that I think about it you are correct. Lamming were better
figures. However they were very plain figures. As a unit they are very
good.

OH!!! Hawktheslayer, its a inside joke with my kids. There was was an
old video from England with Jack Palance and John Terry
called "Hawktheslayer" I liked it so my kids used to tease me about
it and so now when I call them I reply with my alter ego.-- After you
teach 7&8th grader awhile you really start to lose your sense of
reality. As strange as it sounds contradictory, it might be keeping
me sane.
