"K just reread it. I was reading HI factors, my bad. EHI still can be
rendered ineffective through forcing charges, but with a -2 factor they
will stay alive Smile
My issue is with the HCW. EHI can and will do well, but HCW is just not
effective in most instances."

Well it turns out, as was pointed out, actually _my_ bad.

I had the Slavs only fighting 1 rank after they were pushed back.
The Slavs get rank and a half which gives them just barely enough
on even dice to avoid being disordered and then broken.
Also they now start dinging the Varangians a bit each bound.
By the time the Slavs are exhausted the Varangians will be tired too.
Still not like they crush the Varangians which was the original
statement.
But obviously a very expensive unit has been neutralized
by a much cheaper one.
And yes, the Slavs are best to simply occupy the space in front in
skirmish.
That produces the same strategic result
without surrendering the points for the Slavs.

So the original statement something to the effect that
the jav foot trash could clean the carpet with Reg Varangians
is not quite accurate

but the overall intent is correct and has probably convinced me
that I am wasting a lot of points on them
I'll stick with the irregulars

I _have_ however learned a lot about game mechanics running all this
In gory detail and making all the mistakes which folks have been
nice enough to point out
