Was wondering (after having a look at the NEW second ed. of HOTT), is FW
going to have a Fast play version, like FW? Same question regarding Fleet
WArrior.

Jumping on Kurt's bandwagon here. what can we expect from Fantasy Warrior?
Warhammer basing, or HOTT basing (which is really DBX, or TOG's first
cousin).
What size armies? Will an orc army be the same size as my, say, Sea
Peoples, or as a typical WFB army?
What armies? Will copyrights be shamelessly winked at by a subtle spelling
change?
When out?
Will it be vanilla Warrior with hot fudge and sprinkles?
Enquiring minds want to know.

I'll tell you this. The 10 players we recruited have stopped playing Warhammer
and Demonworld and six of them have rebased Demonworld figures to have their own
armes. What used to be Warhammer/Demonworld night is now exclusively Fantasy
Warrior night. Although all of us will still play the occasional WH/DW game,
these entirely rookie players have totally gone over to Fantasy Warrior and the
rules are not even done yet.
<<> Warhammer basing, or HOTT basing (which is really DBX, or TOG's first

Fantasy Warrior is Warrior basing and therefore fully compatible with HOTT/DBF.
We have a 30mm scale to accomodate Warhammer recruits.
<<> What size armies? Will an orc army be the same size as my, say, Sea

Same points system. Creature, Large Creatures and Behemoths are new, but an Irr
C LMI 2HCW Sh Orc is the same cost as a human.
<<> What armies? Will copyrights be shamelessly winked at by a > subtle

We don't wink at copyrights, but copyrights are to expressions of ideas and not
the ideas themselves - that takes a patent. No one has a patent on Orcs, for
example.
There are 45 draft lists at this writing. Ten of these are in the playtest
pack.
<< When out?>>
When I am happy with it. We have not yet started playtesting flyers or magic
items. I want everything else perfect before we mess with those. Not this
year, I can guarantee it.

Yes, do it right. As a tri-genre war game player it is always nice if
I can use the same or compatible rules for my Dwarves as I use for my
"historical" figures.

As one of Jon's play-testers for Fantasy Warrior, I'll offer my opinion. I
am a former (and still sometimes) addicted Warhammer player. After playing
FanWar all summer and spending quite a bit of time on the rules (I did not
know Warrior prior to this endeavor) I will state the time was worth it.
The game plays well (you Warrior players know that), it has enough of a
fantasy feel to it to separate it from traditional historical games, and it
looks great on the table.
Given that it is fantasy allows for some very creative modeling and some of
the players in our group have come up with very appealing conversions. We
are playing in 15mm, but many of us make use of 25mm figures for creatures,
etc. A dragon looks like a dragon!
There was comment on this list earlier today about the complexity of the
rules being a turn off for some. Maybe, but I didn't find them to be more
complex than many of the games I play. Warhammer, for example, is far from
simple to learn. Are there things that need explained, sure, and I have be
lucky to have Jon around to do that.
I also read some have concern about the game (Warrior) being to tournament
orientated. I have played in Games Workshop Grand tournaments with 180
players in the room! I agree with Greg in his comment that Tournaments
should be seen a strength, not a weakness. Tournaments are a social event,
an opportunity to see some great armies, and learn from other players. If
Warrior and Fantasy Warrior didn't offer this aspect of the game, I wouldn't
be interested.
If you like to paint and model (I do), you like Tolkien (same), and a game
that plays well and looks great on the Table, Fantasy Warrior is worth your
time.
Charles (now I just need to find a way to beat Jon!)
