Doug,
Don't be shocked when I tell you that I mounted
much of the cavalry in that Late Imperial Roman Army
and painted some of the figures as well. Further, I
based many of the figures for Warrior/Medieval Warfare
in exchange for 24 Beautifully painted Foundry
Frankish Footmen as well. Dave used this army in a
Medieval Warfare tournament at historicon if we are
talking about the same boys! I had no trouble basing
them whatsoever other than that icky flocking gel that
Dave insists on using! But you are correct, a 30 mm
scale will handle things quite nicely for many of the
Warhammer folks! Good gaming my friend!

I think this will pay off when you release Fantasy Warrior. GW
pretty well has the fantasy and sci-fi markets locked up. Anyone who
does fantasy does Warhammer, whether they really like the game or
not. It simply is unavoidable.
The 30mm scale will help lure players over to Fantasy Warrior. You
can rightfully state that existing fantasy armies can be converted
with a little work.

Actually, Doug purchased the FIRST LIR that I painted. They were all
based for WAB and were Gripping Beast figures. You helped out on the
second LIR army that I sold at Historicon last year. Why do I do
that....I am such a sick ticket.

Yes, Dave, how do you ever expect to acquire a large number of armies
when you keep on selling them off? :)
Actually, there are a lot of people in the hobby who get their joy
from painting the armies. I just suspect you are one of them.

I would say that your heart is really with the
irregulars! Dave, inside you is a Barbarian yearning
to cut his way to Victory and ultimately to "Sack
Rome!" Isn't that what it's all about? If Jamie Fish
were here, that's what he might say! His barbarian
line of 15mm were pretty dang awesome! see you soon!

Doug,
I used to be called the lead Ho not to be
confused with any of the other Ho's on this server!!!
I've owned and sold so many armies that sometimes I
feel like Dave! Ask me sometime about the 11,500 25mm
figs I picked up for only $500.00! Most are gone but
not forgotten! "HO" hum!

I made my peace with the "Evil Empire" a while ago. However, (and
this might not surprise you), I still buy whatever figures I like
regardless of whether they are made by G.W. And I will not play in
their tournaments as long as they have silly rules dictating what
figures I can and cannot use.
Some of their figures are gorgeous. And the Brettonians and Empire
figures make for an easy transition to historical gaming. One of my
friends is a teacher who gets his kids to play Warhammer and then
gently nudges them to play historical games.
In my neck of the woods, Denver, their tournaments are still going
strong, being some of the better attended miniature events at the
cons. And several of the local stores have very active Warhammer
leagues. The guys at Attactix (one of the better gaming stores west
of the Mississippi), have indicated that the fantasy stuff brings in
enough money to support the historical gamers as well.
That being said, it would not hurt them in the least to have some
viable competition. Certainly the gaming community as a whole would
benefit. So I wish you the best of luck with Fantasy Warrior.

Doug, I think a demo is a great idea. I *know* I will be at Genghis Con
2003. I *may* be at Tacticon - don't know yet.
I think I know Larry Irons, name is familiar.

You wanna here something that's really looney-tunes? No, too bad, I'm
tellin anyway....I'm starting to make a transition to 15's so that I
can paint up an army faster, so that I can play sooner. My painting
side will be satisfied with several 54's from Andrea, Time Machine,
Elite, etc.
Which reminds me...I have Teutonics up on the sales block, painted
and unpainted, Testudo and Front Rank and Gripping Beast. If someone
takes the entire deal, I'll make it VERY attractive. Samples of
painted Teutonics on my website.
