Here is an idea. How about an INTRO level set of rules for Warrior. Stay
with me here, I don't mean a whole new rulesbook. Something like a Warrior
Lite version (or rather Fast Warrior Light). Somthing that takes out the
more complex rules. Hard to do???
Something like this could be made FREE on the website. Give people a chance
to SEE what Warrior is about before condeming them because of the 7E
curse!!! Somthing simplier than even FW (which is NOT that simple).
I think it's a great idea, but then I seem to always feel that way about 'my
ideas'...hmmmm

It has always been my plan to do an intro Warrior game for the website. Just
ahve to clear the decks to get to it.

I am an ASL player and familiar with Module K. I'd love to do something
similar.
In the meantime, I will be making a series of Warrior Clinic articles to
cover key aspects of the game from a beginner standpoint.

Well, as a newbie to Warrior with no local players, I can tell you
the kind of additional documentation *I* would find useful ...
Anybody familiar with Advanced Squad Leader. Now THERE is a complex
game, more so than Warrior, but Warrior is on the same track
certainly. The ASL folks noted that getting into ASL was difficult,
so they created an entire section filled with nothing but tutorials,
essentially.
The entire set of tutorial was written in a funky "you are there"
style which worked quite well -- the "sergeant" (voice of the
tutorial) would tell you to do things, e.g. move your squad from hex
to hex, and call out the movement point costs, for instance. He
would then quiz you at the end of each section.
The tutorials were divided into sections that focused on individual
aspects of the game -- movement, terrain, basic infantry
firefighting, basic infantry close combat, support weapons, etc.
Each section was confined to just those activities, to keep things
sane, though there was some building off of previous tutorials, as
well. Perhaps most importantly, however, the tutorials didn't go
into every single edge- and corner-case for every single rule. It
gave the 80% case, and left it to you -- by following a rule
reference -- to find out about the notable and more-bizarre
exceptions. And it was hands-on, as well -- the intro to the
tutorials stated clearly that you would get the most out of it if
you really had the board in front of you, and really moved counters
around, rolled dice, etc.
The work involved to create such a thing for Warrior might be
substantial, but I really responded well to this kind of writing,
and I think others would, as well. Perhaps it could be built around
a very small army -- a unit of cav, heavy inf, and skirmishers. You
could learn about basing conventions by examining each unit, then
progress to a movement section that introduces the different rules
and more importantly, the different "feel" behind approaches,
marches, counters. Then introduce terrain, and its effects on
movement. Then introduce an enemy unit and stand and shoot at each
other in different settings. Then introduce enemy melee units and
get "stuck in" in various configurations. Side trips where
appropriate to really get a good understanding of troop states, and
how the different states interact ...
Do other folks think such a thing would be useful, workable, etc.?

But are Warrior players really as socially disfunctional as ASLers
