Heres my go around at this list for ya.
Later Crusader - #17
C-in-C 2E Knights Ir B EHK L,Sh + PA 190
Sub 2E Knights Ir B EHK L,Sh + P 130
2x 2E Knights Ir A/B EHK L,Sh 118 (236)
2x 6E Foot Sergeants Ir C HI/MI LTS,Sh 121 (242)
2x 4E Turkopoles Ir C LC L,B,Sh - 81 (162)
2x 6E Syrian Archers Ir D LI B 37 (74)
Military Order Sub 2E Reg A EHK L,Sh + P 150
2E Military Order Knights Reg A EHK L,Sh 118
6E Military Order Foot Sergeants Reg C HI/MI CB 106
3x 2E Military Order-led Turkopoles Reg C LC L,B,Sh 46 (138)
8 E European Archers Ir C LI B 57
52 scouting
1603
3 commands
Personally I believe this army is better in 15mm more space for the LC and LI
and knights to operate. I would run this army as a knight heavy army w/ superb
LC support.
There are 6 units of knights, 2 of which are Ir A fronts for big punch.
The crossbow I think are better served being in one unit instead of being a back
rank in a relatively ineffective unit. Being regular they are more mobile,
especially as being part of a flexible attack force. The HI front allows for
some stability as well. Even if faced by a unit of 6E LI B at close range the
LI only inflict 30 casualties on the unit or 1 CPF, while the CB can shot or
chase them off. Its there job to support the knights and LC from a distance
taking pot shots at other LC or cavalry to cause damage.
This way you also get 2 solid units of 6E of Foot Sergeants w/ LTS and can take
up a good deal of space, and as HI fronts they can take a fair amount of
punishment.
There can be 3 commands that will all have odd numbers of units (desired of
course for break point).
You want the LC to have the lance instead of JLS the B allows for skirmishing
and the lance and a half rule is excellent for LC.
I like the all EHK instead of the half HK better brush troops and more staying
power. Plus you dont get creamed when disorder unlike the HK.
While there are no real woods troops the LI can slow down a force long enough
for you knights to punch through lines. When facing elephants one has to
remember that most elephant armies have poor or susceptible support units
(Macedonians the real exception maybe Khmer and Gupta as well) so you have
other units your knights can go after.
This is my mobile, agile, and hostile list for Later Crusader. Too many foot
and it gets bogged down. There is some here to force march and enough LI/LC to
gather your knights into a spot and screen the rest.
My 2 cents.

Hi Todd Kaeser!
The following snippet sums up my ideas on this army as well, just
you are probably better at crafting it into an actual list. But
maybe even more important is the mindset to play the army in, and I
think this says it.
Fwiw I played it in 15mm. Hadn't even though about the difference in
scales but I suspect you are correct this is a very mobile army,
like hoof-heavy versions of Byzantines but with much better shock
power, that needs the extra room to really excel.
Dang you guys are going to make me want to go back and play these
guys again!
