Mark

Could you take a look at what you think about the mutual forced march push
back being 'known' instead of 'visible'? I am still working 7-12, but would
like your thoughts on whether we can make that change simple and if it will
work.

Jon

Jon,

Here's the wording I'd suggest; I'll send you this off-line as a Word document
as well.

-Mark Stone

Known 1.261

14.43, Army Deployment.

In paragraph 4 (the paragraph that begins with "Troops may be selected to deploy
as forced marchers..."), replace from sentence 6, which begins "If, once both
armies deploy..." to the end of the paragraph, with the following:

"Forced marchers of out scouted armies may not deploy within 240p of the
centerline. Otherwise, once both armies deploy, if opposing force marchers are
known (1.261) to and within 240p of each other, they are moved straight back an
equal distance (up to 120p each) until they are 240p apart. It may be that the
space to which a body is being stepped back is occupied by either another
friendly body or by terrain in which that body may not deploy (wheeled vehicles
and TFs, for example, have restrictions). If the space is occupied by another
friendly body, then rearmost bodies are moved back by the minimum needed to
accomodate more forward bodies being stepped back. If any stepping back would
result in a body being deployed in terrain in which that body may not be
deployed, then that body is inserted to the rear of the impermissible terrain
(or to the available space nearest the rear of the impermissible terrain if
such terrain extends all the way to the rear table edge)."

In paragraph 6 (the paragraph that begins with "TFs placed in the forward
zone..."), add the following sentence to the end of the paragraph:

"These working parties are, in effect, responding to known (1.261) enemy the
same as all other forced marchers, and must be stepped back accordingly to
determine where their TF construction work will occur."

re "stepped back:

This phrase is still not crystal clear as to whether the offending
body is simply picked up and plunked down, or if it slides backwards,
pushing all other bodies back with it instead of interpenetrating
them.

they are moved straight back an

friendly body or by terrain
