Hi Chris,

Thanks, I am looking at trying some 25mm armies prior to plunking down bucks
for lead. I currently only have 15mm. I like my Post-Mongol Russians, but am
concerned about maneuver space. I tried out Spartacans using surrogates and
really liked them, despite being ridden down by Crusading knights. We played
on 5 x 4, so maybe I would've gotten into contact sooner and cut down
maneuverability of knightly types. I have always liked Japanese, so they are on
my
test bench as well along with various Hebrew armies (a weakness of mine). I
tend to like pedestrian-heavy armies, but still haven't broken the code on
handling knights very well. Hoping to test out some new ideas this Sunday, so
will
try it on 5x3.

Thanks,
John

In the Pennsylvania tourneys we typically have used a 5' by 8'
table for 25mm. If you play 15mm on a 3' by 5' table it is almost
exactly the same ground scale. I worked it out several years ago and
senelity has started to settle in so I can not recall the exact figures
but I believe that the width is within 4% and the depth was less than 1%
difference. I would tune up for the tourneys by playing the guys in
Augusta (who pretty much all played 15mm at the time) by playing on a
3x5 table.
I hope that helps!

What about the relative size of terrain pieces? Does using normal
size 15mm terrain maintain the right relationship to the ground they
take up in 25mm?

25mm terrain is gigantic - so a regular 15mm terrain piece will do on a 3x5
board.
