				| Well, its a catch-22 question, at least I think it is.

Why make the Persians weaker? Because of historical
reasons? The same historical reasons used to make
 Alexander Imperials stronger?

Besidces, if anyone can figure out a list and/or way
to beat themk, surely a 4 time NICT winner can. :)

				| Greetings Derekcus,
Since we dont pay for the weapons themselves, only the training,
somethings are already free. Mind you Im with you on costing things
via their value to the army. The point system is flawed, but it seems
that most folks are willing to accept it the way it is.

				| Greetings Jon,
Im willing to try and do such a thing, but the question I have is will
it be tried? I can spend a month or so and come up with what I think
is a workable system, but will FHE be willing to do the follow up work
of changing all the lists to conform with what ever my new system
would change. Will enough folks be willing to playtest them for the
year or so to tweak what I propose.
I assume that since you are asking that you would atleast consider a
new point system. The first thing that has to be done is to define
what FHE would want in a new system. No sense in designing a system
that you folks arent going to implement. On that line of thinking
would you want a simple system similar to what we have now where every
thing is based on incrimental cost increase? Or would you be willing
to look at a system the is more precentage based. A good expample of
what I dont like about the current system is the fact that upgrading
from C to B is the same cost for an LI with a pointed stick as it is
with an SHK with. The value for the unit is the same it will fail
waiver tests less frequently aprox 16% less. For the LI with stick
and a shield you pay a whopping 33% increase for that gain, the SKH
with his pointy stick its only 5%.

The second thing that would need to be done is to identify what we,
the group, think is wrong with the current one. This could be the
harder part, in that we all have are feelings about what matters more
 in our particular game.

That having been said I am willing to put forth the effort to get the
ball rolling if FHE is willing implement it.

I have every intent of looking at the whole point system a couple years down the
road. I would consider strongly anything sent to me. But the idea that we'd
obviate every list book simultaneously after we just asked our customers to buy
them is simply out of the question.

But yes, I look at everything sent and will certainly seriously consider any and
 all good ideas.

				| Greetings Jon,
I wouldn't expect you to obviate all the rule books, but if you don't do that
then you can't do any significant changes to the system. I think that we are
constrained by the fact that a change in points, to be effective, would mean
redoing all the army lists. One of the perks of my job is lots of time to think
about my hobbies, I can put my ideas on paper and see what you think of them.

				| Well, Terry we are going to obviate this set down the road no matter what when
we do Warrior Armies (all the lists in one 8.5x11 with all errata incorporated).
If we do a new point system at all, it will be in conjunction with that as we'll
be making the 8 separate books obsolete when we do that.

BUT we have two charters with our customers. One, we won't do that until they
have had a chance to make use of the current list books that they purchased for
a couple years (it will take that long anyway...) - and to have our distributors
run out of them at the warehouse.
the second charter is - if we do a new points system at the same time - to not
have any army get decidedly WORSE due to the new system. That would mean we
might make an army noncompetitive out from under someone who invested a lot of
time and money in it. I won't do that. Period.

 Jon
