 Now me again:

 Jon,

Come now old chap, I said I wasn't complaining. Drather have it cold
than Hot! But, my good man, you did not answer the crux of the post.
 What is your position on:

 1. Chess clocks,

 2. Ascots,

 3. Smoking jackets; AND

 4. Now that my fellow ivy leaguer Ewan has chimed in: Tuxedos (which I
 actually like better).

 MESSAGE for EWAN:

My class reunion is next year in Cambridge, Ewan. Wouldn't mind getting
the stuffing knocked out of my Greeks if you can find a suitable club
nearby that allows cigar smoking, and has a bar. Will definitely have the
tuxedo match there and then, if you're game. Even though you appear to now
 be a son of Eli.

I like playing fast, so for me 'personally', i would have no problem with it. I
would be concerned about two things:
 1. The practical nature of working out exactly for what the clock will be
 used..
 2. the issue that i believe the majority of our players would be against such
things - and a corolary, that this does not do anything for regional tourneys,
which we need to be encouraging.

 <<2. Ascots,>>

 3. Smoking jackets; AND>>

As a West Pointer, I have spent too much time kicking ivy league ass to side
with them fashion-wise at this point.

me too. But there are some guys we play with who might not do a tuxedo
 right...lol

 All humor here!

Harvard? You are guaranteeing my safe passage?

I know nothing of the city, of course
, but would welcome you to Yale with great happiness..

..the whole tuxedo match, though, has som legs, I think. It would
provide late-night entertainment at the next H'Con if nothing else.

Perhaps this will have to suffice, as i have no credentials for the
 faculty club at Harvard.

I agree this may be an excellent compromise. Let's revisit as the time
 draws near.
