Warrior Ancient and Medieval Rules

Medieval German League (Feudal Warrior List 2 main troop is either Reg D or
Irreg C MI 1/3 2HCW restLTS, with list options for upgrading to HI, EHI, adding
Sh and replacing the 2HCW with 2HCT.

There's also an option to take them as Reg D and purchase up to Reg C as
Mercenaries at 0 - 1/2.

If I have a 6E Unit of these guys, can I purchase just 1E as a Reg C, or do I
have to purchase 3E as Reg C in order to get the benifits of the morale upgrade?

You left out that you have to upgrade entire units, not just one element. Look
under General Concepts for additional details on the 0-1/2 bit. That doesn't
mean 0-1/2 units, just 0-1/2 elements but that any such upgrades must be to
entire units.
