Elephant’itis – The sudden, overwhelming urge to field an army with greater
than ten elephants.
Irregularity – Armies comprised of irregular foot in units so large, they may
be deployed on the table and win the battle, even though their player spends
the entire game in the men’s room on the toilet.
Almughaphoria – That warm feeling you get when someone that actually
historically had a shield, loans it to you, and you now find that even at down-
two, you can kick the crap out of trained foot, at three times your cost.
Foot Fault – Guys that play Aztecs.
Listatic – Erection caused by the purchase of a new Warrior List book, and
finding your favorite army is now much better.
Listless – Warrior apathy caused by the reading of your favorite army’s new
list, and realizing that major suckage is in your future!
Syphon (Scy-Fun) – The moment of enjoyment you get when you have four scythed
chariots, and you realize the enemy just fielded an army comprised of 75%
mounted knights.
Figment – The process of putting more than half your army on flank march, and
having it never arrive. This is actually an acronym for;
Fun
Innovative
Gaming
Maneuver
Ending
Not
Table’ized
Gaming Table Dance – The well thought out tactical maneuver of taking your
Sunday playoff opponent out to the ‘Institute of Breastly Culture’ on Saturday
night, and getting him so polluted that he is walking like Fred Sanford on
Sunday morning.
Nighttime – A Teutonic player that hits the 2 hour and 45 minute mark.
Stall’a’saurus – Players that have to look up the same damn thing again and
again, no matter how many or how recently they have previously looked it up.
Example: B vs. HC is a 4. It was a four last time you looked it up. It was a 4
last bound. It was a 4 two minutes ago when we shot with the same combination,
it was a 4 when you shot at my HC, it will still be a 4 next bound. No matter
how many times you look it up, it will always be a four.
Stall’a’saurus Rex – Players that know all the rules when they are winning, but
when they are losing in bound seven - insist that the game cannot go on without
determining once and for all if something was actually known back when we
deployed in bound
one.

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not 100% out for TwisterCon. I have a rather important Brewery Review that
weekend, but am making every attempt short of offering my resignation, in order
to attend.
By the way, what programs are you talking about?

It did a little Chris ... ~wink~
Well, I started this post out to be something that people could have fun with,
since the board has been a little dead as of late.
BUT, since recruiting was brought up ...
I remember when FHE first bought the rules, and we couldn't get anyone around
here to come to tournaments to save our life. EVERY tournament we had, involved
someone here taking a major financial bath - specifically, I would like to
point out David "Big Dave" Beeson, Harlan Garrett, and myself, who all took
large enough financial beatings on the tournaments we held to buy a 25mm
army ... all in the hopes that some day we would have enough to players to grow
the hobby.
It is so nice to have spent the time and money over the past few years,
recruiting enough guys, giving away unpainted lead, and loaning out so many
troops, you can't even remember who has them ... to now have fun tournaments.
I'm pretty sure we will be in the low 20's per event by 2004. Here in San
Antonio, we have two new players, one returner, and several more returners we
are working hard to get back into the fold. One has a young Son that is primed
to play, so if we get one, we will probably get the other. The boys Daddy is an
absolute ancients legend around here, and would be a strong addition to our
group.
At any rate Chris ... it was a bit of a harsh comment, but I never worry much
about people that have no idea what they are talking about.
Hope to see you at TwisterCon ...
G

Yep. Some of us have thicker skin than others. It's those with the thinest
skin that tend to feel that they are being attacked when vague harmless jokes
are floated across the web. Being the antagonist that I am, I just felt
obliged to rub a little salt in the wound. <G>

Not bad. But don't wait for 2.0 to impelement as there will not be one...
Here's one for you:
Designerbane - A player who complains very loudly about several aspects of
company management but when programs are put in place to answer each issue,
rather than volunteer for one or more of them, commits to practical jokes and
overly clever but unsubstantial emails. Oh, and then dodges the one chance to
be in the physical presence of his targets.

Wow,
Talk about misconceptions based on one's reading of an e-mail. I had no idea
that A. you had thin skin (really can't imagine anyone who had a real plebe
year suffering from this particular ailment) nor B. that you were being
serious with your post to me about harmless jokes. Although I have my issues
with how and more actually what could have been done with a new rules set and
weren't, I am loathe to criticize the FHE. I do appreciate that you do the
work and that I do not; and as such avoid the label of hypocrite by
criticizing that which I am unwilling to participate in (other than the
occassional e-mail when opinions are being sought). So as I try to needle
Greg (for at least hinting at his job interfering with something as important
as Twistercon), something that he obviously picked up based on his response,
it appears that you have some raw nerves of your own that were exposed to my
liberal sprinkling of salt.
meaculpa.

Chris
A. It wasn't you.
B. It's the only thing I am thin skinned about - other thankless tasks where
I am second guessed a lot are all army related and school did train me for
that.

Ah, well then there is hope...
While I have some volunteers already, I would have thought you would be one of
the first (or maybe Don or Pat) to sign up for the Fifth Horseman Program -
especially after all the comments about lack of ability to sell product at a
table....
There also have been no takers from your area on the recruiting discount
program.
Nor has anyone out there submitted a scenario or offered to volunteer for my
list of things to do to help Warrior.

Yes, I have a thin skin about Warrior. I admit it, and have admitted it before
in the vain hope someone would care. It takes up way to much of my time for me
to treat it lightly or to enjoy having it second guessed (even if 'disguised' as
a 'joke') by those unwilling to do the work themselves.

Things that have already been decided upon. No need to beat a dead horse. I
am happy to play the game as it is written. Really no need to dredge up the
what if's with so many other demands of the various warrior iterations to
come.
