Oh, I've seen it more recently, but in jest not antipathy.
Oddly, I was just rereading a tourney report of mine from '97,
which noted Kevin Santos managing to throw something like 5 1s
with his A class generals in succession (and when using Mamluks
against Seleucids at that!). Yuk.
>>I've never banned a person from a tourney although have had cause in a couple
of instances.
I note on the BHGS webpage that one of their international team
just got found to be using loaded dice. I'm pretty (80%?) sure
that this happened against me in one tournament, too, but that
was more than ten years ago.
I can't think of anything else that I've seen that would cause me
to ban someone. Even in the couple of cases where it seemed that
a more experienced player was deliberately lying about the rules
to take advantage of a newbie (although they did get quietly
mentioned!). Actually, I take that back: there was one case I
witnessed where all of the final 30 mins or so of a game were
consumed by one side pretending to decide what to do with a
single LC unit, in order to avoid enemy elephants getting to
their K. I would have ejected them on the spot, but it would
have to be that egregious, and even than after 5 min or so I'd
have stepped in and given them a ten-sec limit to move on rather
than get to that stage. The relative good grace of the innocent
side was amazing.
>>We should, imnsho, go back to the first 7th Ed champion. That is our origin
after all.
Certainly that far - and I see the case for staying within
'system' - but it just seemed gracious to note the history of 6th
also. What's the cost?

Sixth edition shouldn't be included. That's a completely different
rules set. But I think 7th and Warrior champs should be included.

I agree, the name is not important. I would suggest not naming it
till either A.) it is made and someone comes up with a nickname that
sticks or B.) someone does something truly outstanding for/or
concerning Warrior play and the trophy could then be named after them
in tribute (my experience with this game, any edition, is limited,
but from all I have been reading, seems Mr. Holder has put a lot of
effort into the whole all along... The Holder Cup / Trophy sounds
very distinguished...). Or there is solution C.), FHE/NASAMW could
have a contest to name it. I am all for The Hausakliffer! :)

Thinks: make it a figure of a dead Khmer LC, call it the "Holder"
and that year's winner the "Holder holder." [Then the person to
beat them in the next year's NICT is the "Holder holder scolder"
- what do you mean this is getting silly?]

"Hausakliffer" is better! But thanks for the kind thoughts.

Guys,
Earlier, there was interest about a special traveling trophy for the
NICT winner. The trophy would have the names of all the NICT winners.
I have a trophy company, which will do the work a little above cost
(he is a gamer and the owner). The plan he has recommended is a Bowl
placed on top of a pedestal. The Bowl and pedestal will have space
for engraving. The cost will start small about $50 for the bowl and
grow with the addition of the pedestal plus $100.
I purpose that the Warrior NICT players pay an additional $5 entry
fee for 2 years to cover the initial cost. Shipping and engraving
cost will need the to be worked in later.
I need to know if the Warrior community will support this.
