 |

Just thought I would share this half-baked tidbit as a break from
the open tournament strategizing on how gunpowder bombards can beat
chariots and clubmen (which I admitedly enjoy as much as the next
guy).
I was perusing Hobilar #50 (the journal of the Lance & Longbow
society - shameless plug) which has some research on the Battle of
Bauge in 1421 and the death there of the Duke of Clarence. Since I
was thinking of using this to try out their Poleaxed rules I thought
while I was at it I would see how it would translate into my
favorite set (Warrior, duh).
Since it kind of worked out I thought I would share it here.
Here is what I came up with sticking as closely as possible to the
numbers and troop types (at Warrior 1:50 nominal scale) presented in
the article (even where this conflicts with Warrior lists) and what
little I understand of these in Warrior.
FRENCH (120 figures - 30 mounted, 90 foot)
1x French CinC Lafayette 2E Irr B SHK L (PA)
3x 2E Irr B SHK L
1x 2E Irr D HI CB, Pa
1x 2E Irr D HI JLS
1x Scots Ally Douglas 4E Irr C HI P (P)
2x 2E Irr C MI B
1x Scots Ally Stewart 2E Irr C 1/2 SHK 1/2 HC L (P)
1x 4E Irr C 1/2 EHI 1/2 HI P
1x 2E Irr C HI 2HCT (count 1.5 ranks)
3x 2E Irr C LMI B
ENGLISH (132 figures - 36 mounted, 96 foot)
1x English CinC Clarence 2E Reg B 1/2 SHK 1/2 HK L (PA)
3x 2E Reg B 1/2 SHK 1/2 HK L
1x English Sub Salisbury 2E Reg B 1/2 SHK 1/2 HK L (P)
1x 2E Reg B 1/2 SHK 1/2 HK L
6x 2E Reg C HI 2HCW, LB, horses
Set-up is more detailed in the article but for a quick Warrior game
it might be boiled down to something like the following...
Douglas begins bivouaced in a built-over area (the village of Bauge,
call it the French camp)
Stewart and Salisbury might be considered to be flank-marching on
opposite flanks with Stewart actually arriving the first bound (so
not really a tourney flank march per se)
Lafayette and Clarence set up normally
Clarence needs to be a rash CinC, though it will not make any
difference in orders.
