Fellow Warriors

Just a reminder that the first paragraph of 9.22 does mean what it says - if you
want to fight more than one rank in hand to hand, you must be armed with the
same weapon as the ranks in front of you. JLS is the only general exception.

If a list rule grants an exception, it grants an exception ONLY for the case
discussed and does not change this rule.

For example, the experimental phalanx rule in CW list 23 allows JLS and B to
fight from various ranks not normally accessible to them, but does not change
the fact that P can only fight from the 3d or 4th rank if there is P in front of
them.
