In Warrior, LCh vs Cav is an even match for causing CPF. But the LCh
are much cheaper, so why would anyone "evolve" to cavalry? Cav vs
Cav is much bloodier than LCh vs LCh, but that isn't a good reason to
be the first to change over to Cav, and actually a bad reason to
match an enemy who has done so (because you can outnumber him for
equal cost).

Unless I'm leaving something out, it seems to me that chariots are a
much better choice than cavalry in Warrior because they cost
significantly less in army points. Their only disadvantage might be
that they are more terrain sensitive. Does Warrior really model
their interaction correctly?

I have not 'run the numbers" for two-deep cavalry vs a chariot, but
that would involve 72 points of troops fighting 20 points of troops,
which doesn't seem like net advantage.

DATA TABLES:

HC,JLS,B,Sh on HC, which counts 3 figures:
3x support at 4= 9 cas or if target shooting back, at 5= 12 cas
3x JLS at 4= 9 cas or if charging, at 5= 12 cas
Does 6 to 8 CPF

HC,JLS,B,Sh on LCh which counts 5 figures:
3x support at 3= 8 cas
3x JLS at 6= 15 cas or if charging, at 7= 18 cas
Does 4 to 5 CPF

LCh,B,JLS on HC, which counts 3 figures:
2x support at 4= 6 cas or if target shooting back at 5= 8 cas
1x crew at 3= 3 cas or if charging, at 4= 3 cas
2x horses at 2= 4 cas or if charging, at 3= 5 cas
Does 4 to 5 CPF

LCh,B,JLS on LCh, which counts 5 figures:
2x support at 3= 5 cas
1x crew at 3= 3 cas or if charging, at 4= 3 cas
2x horses at 2= 4 cas or if charging, at 3= 5 cas
Does 2 to 2 CPF

This LCh element costs 20 points
This HC element costs 3x12 = 36 points

Doug ...

For light chariots, is the combat result for H-T-H tends to be the killer. While
it is true that the CPF's works well for the chariot vs. cavalry, the 'more
H-T-H' will most likely go the way of the cavalry, and that will require the
chariots to break off. Heavy cavalry will mostly catch them, light cavalry will
damn near always catch them.

Heavy chariots are not a bad buy, but have some limitations that are none too
kind, such as the 120p charge range, etc ... I played that Qin Chinese army a
few times and as long as I took lots of LC to screen and enough pikes to attack
from between them with the chariots, I did well.

Of course, God help you with any chariot if you get a stick or recoiled.
