Cool,
I think I can probably make that since I won't have to beg Scott for a 25mm
army! Smile I have loads of 15mm and prefer this scale for my cav based armies. It
just seems this scale allows for much more maneuverability for those armies to
me. This should be fun! By the way, you can keep the Cowboys tickets as I seem
to have bad luck with them when I go to their games. The last time I visited for
a game, I was doing my artillary obc at Fort Sill. We went to several games (all
of which the Cowboys lost) and they were all blow outs for the opposing teams!!!
Yuck.

P.S. I think I might just die laughing over the 2HCT point cost issue. If the
double pointage was due to training, why do the crossbow and longbow cost the
same?

The fix is easy, let them fight 1.5 ranks, like they should have all along.
Are they an LTS with an axe head, or a JLS with an axe head, you make the call?
Both of those weapons fight 1.5.

Do us a favor and don't make it just charging, etc ... the last thing we need

Kelly,

The smallest place I can get seats twenty and cost $481.00 (room fee, taxes,
etc). This is before any prizes.

Worst Case Scenario:
In past tournaments we have been lucky to get eight people to show. 8 x
$35.00 (assuming no one plays early) = $280.00

Most Likely Scenario:
14 attendees. (7 x $25.00) + (7 x $35.00) = $420.00

Best Case Scenario
The show is fully booked. 20 x $25.00 = $500.00, then everyone will get a
$1.00 refund, larger refund if anyone pays $35.00

The $35.00 at the door is to encourage people to commit early to the
tournament and save $10.00.

Do you have any suggestions on reducing cost? This is one area that I need
a lot of help.

All ears,
Harlan

Yes,

I am looking forward to Sunday's game over Saturday's game. A large team
game with 5 or more on one side with one side chasing a relief column. It
will be awesome! I will purposely throw a game just to make sure I am not
in the playoffs.

Chris,

I thought you did not play on Sunday because of your nose ring. ;-)

Any suggestion for a playoff format? I am open for suggestions.

I am with you on this one Kelly. I will not play two games on Sunday for
some sense of playoff. It is ridiculous in concept. Every major tournament

out there simply tallies points at the end and declares a winner. Unless
there are brackets and consilation routes a playoff is a name only. For
this
reason I rarely play the games scheduled for Sunday in the Texas
tournaments.
I cannot speak for the others in DFW, but I think the majority of folks up
here feel the same way, at least in regards to playing on Sunday, not
necessarily for the same reasons as me.

Chris

There is often the need for a single playoff game sunday morning at CW and
HCon is tourneys that are close after three rounds, but it *is* avoided
unless it has to be done out of fairness. Usually about 50% go to playoffs,
is that right Scott?

>Yes, and, given the weighted scoring system I've been using for a loooong tim
e now, I ensure we have 4 folks playing Sunday morning should it come to that.
Actually, the days of playoff games where two guys dither around for 3.75 ho
urs and end up with a final point score of 66.5 to 32 are long over, partly be
cause the point system pushes you away from that and partly because of the mat
urity of the player base. Guys playing on Sunday morning play to win big.

So we always have a single sunday morning 'round' blocked out if necessary.

>I always say "3 round, finals if needed". In fact, it pretty much takes at l
east 12 players to generate a 4th round. Of course, playing 4 rounds come hel
l or high water is also a good thing but given the distances traveled to play,
many people find it hard to hack thru a 4 hour Sunday round.

Scott

Hey Harlan,
Better lay off the body piercing comments because one of the Four Ho's is
into Goth stuff and as I recall he has something pierced! I say, "the more
piercings the better!" Besides, Chris's bone through his nose is quite
attractive! (to head hunting pygmie chicks!) lol!

Chris

Harlan,
I understand your dilemma. Too bad you can't get a room at a former
officers's club or something on that order. Have you taken a look at the YMCA. I
just joined the one here in Raytown, MO. and they have very cheap rates for non
profit groups like us!
Kelly

The smallest place I can get seats twenty and cost $481.00 (room fee, taxes,

All ears,
Harlan

Oh MY,
Well, Scott and I are in agreement about something again! Harlan, I know the KC
folks will have at least an 8 hour drive home from the tournament on saturday.
Additionally, someone like Scott Holder who lives in the sticks of
Missouri(Bonnet's Mill located near Jefferson City) will have even longer to
travel. If you want to have a big game, I suggest getting an early start,
reducing the game play time, and having food very nearby. Then, if any are hardy
enough, have your big game in the evening after a good dinner. That way, those
of us who live far away can use Sunday for driving time as most will have to
work the following Monday. As my students would say, "Mr. Wilkinson, You're a
Pimp and a Puller!" Whatever that means!

So we always have a single sunday morning 'round' blocked out if necessary.

many people find it hard to hack thru a 4 hour Sunday round.

Harlan,
As I recall, When the guys from Colorado Springs held their "Ancient Wars"
event they used a knights of Columbus hall. Further, the St. Louis guys hosted
their tournaments for a time at an Eagles Club. . . I'm sure you get my drift
