Yes, I forgot Pat's Tournament at FWW; however, I would hardly call the
Generation X game a tournament.

Did you miss Fort Worth Wars? Did you miss Patricks Tourny in August at
Generation X (actually you did not, you were one of four attendees).
Patrick of all people has stepped up big here in DFW. He puts his actions
where his mouth is. See also many post about TCON which Patrick is also
spearheading.

You can not. That is the nature of things. People will bitch. Its what
people do. Without bitching however Lone Star and its substantially reduced
cost would not be the site of our Feb.Winter War.

Well said and I agree. As will I. However for the two dayers, I will
rarely play on Sunday. Last time, I crawled out of bed and got to the site
to find my opponent had not decided to show up. I could have stayed warm
and hung over at home. Many people have said the will not show on Sunday.
As you have stated, so be it. Their not showing should be a forfeit for
their opponent though not a promotion for the next guy back right?

I let this go a while because everyone already knows I'm a two-day tournament
guy. We have to take a vacation day to travel to Dallas for the tournament, and
doing that for three games, where you may not even get to play the people you
really want to play, is rather difficult.

Having said that, I changed my last tournament in San Antonio to a one-day, just
to accomodate the DFW players. Are you guys so set on your own way that you will
not give in even once in a while for us old-timers that want to have a
traditionally formatted tournament?

By the way, John Green has been to three San Antonio, one Killeen and three
Houston two-day tournamants and ALWAYS stayed for the second day. I know because
he an I usually make it a habit of getting beer-slammed on Saturday night, which
if you ask me, is as big a part of the Texas gaming tradition as the damn games!

Peace ... g

Pat, et. al:

Ain't nobody on this list got more experience setting up, running and taking a
buse for ancients tourneys than me. You do wtf you feel is best for your loca
le. That's one of the joys of local/regional tourneys, namely the difference
in format and structure. At CW, we're gonna attempt something along those lin
es for the first time at a "big" show in running the Mini Theme Campaign. So
if you want to run a 5 game marathon complete with mandatory intoxication betw
een rounds 3-4, more power to ya:)SmileSmile:)

That being said, I wonder if there wouldn't be a way to set this same thing up
and still accomodate the outsiders who need/desire the travel day on Sunday.
Perhaps have a 3 round winner who may or may not continue on into Sunday and
then a "real" 5 round winner. You haven't had to adjust much since people tha
t were gonna leave on Sunday were gonna leave anyway so scoring, re-wickering
pairings for Sunday would only marginally be effected. And if the 3 round win
ner does leave, that just opens up the field a little more. And if the field
drops from, for example, 12 players to 8 players, you could still qualify both
winners for the NICT (it's great being me and being able to make these decisi
ons, hee hee). Just a thought that might bridge two seemingly incompatible pl
ayer desires.

Have a good time and please get the full results posted here and I'll make sur
e they make it into Spearpoint and on the NASAMW web site. Which reminds me,
are you gonna ask for any support from NASAMW for prizes? Ole Mr Tebo here wo
uld be the one to ask:)Smile:)

Scott
