The above happened in a game I played recently. Because of an ESO error I wasn't able to put it on the forum till today, but I did ask Jon about it. What follows is my question and his answer.

A is a unit of Irr LMI
B is a unit of Reg MI
C is a unit of Irr K
D is a unit of Irr LMI

A declares an impetuous charge on B.
B declares a charge on A.
C declares an impetuous charge on D.
D declares an impetuous charge on A.

So far so good?

OK. A's charge is canceled, because it is being charged by D, right?
Because that charge is canceled, B can charge A, yes?
C ends up charging D, which has to take a waver test. The Kn will contact it before it hits the A. so the ensuing combats will be B against A, and D against C, right?

Jons answer:
I assume A and C are friends. (They are - T)

D's charge is impetuous, so C's charge does not cancel it and there is no waver test.
Since D's charge is NOT canceled, A's is because D is charging it from outside its path.
If A is cancelled, B can indeed charge.

So, you are correct, except there is no waver for D (it is not taking a mounted charge at a halt).
D looks like it can still contact A through echeloning. If it can't and never reaches A, it does not cancel A's charge.

Jon, a followup question.

The way the units were lined up, it looked as if Unit C was going to hit the left element of Unit D, preventing it from echeloning into A.
In order to be sure it probably would have been best to prorate the movement, right?

Thanks,
Todd

Yes, in a complicated situation like that one, prorating is the right answer.
