|
|
I see occasional posts, or have conversations, where people talk about their figure finds; these days mostly from eBay. I'm curious: what search terms/strategies/timing/locations have folks found most useful? I'm most interested in painted figures, I guess, given how little painting time I have.
On a different note: not for me, but there have been occasional posts to the list offering lead for sale or similar. Which area of the forum should those go to? |

Ewan,
I usually just type "15mm painted" or "painted 15mm", strange thing is sometimes the results differ, I do the same for 25mm. Ebay usually gives me about 5 pages to look at.
As the moderator for the Painting and Modeling Section, I have no problem with swaps and deals happening on this thread/section, but I will check with Jon and/or Scott before I am counselled.

Ewan
I search on the standard 25mm and 28mm searches in relevant categories (eg Toys & Hobbies) but alos have searches for Gripping Beast, WAB, DBM, Foundry etc - essentially anything which someone would use to describe their figures.
You can save these searches for next time, exclude items (eg Napoleonic), save favourite sellers (whose figures you regularly like) and sort by most expensive, time to finish etc.
Ebay provides a forum to buy and sell which previously wasn't there - be warned though it is addictive!! There is some great stuff there on occassions.

As you might expect, I go to toys and hobbies, then click on miniatures/wargames, and then type in the search word "Greek." !!! _________________ -Greek |

I am collecting and painting the Lord of the Rings line from Games Workshop and 28mm Essex War of the Roses miniatures bought from e-Bay. Almost every transaction has been great and I have seldom paid more than 63% of the listed price. When I find something I want I usually start with a bid that is 50% of the list price. On occasion, when the bidding was light, I picked up figures for less than 30% of the list price. |
