Scott, I noticed that in the Catalan Company list, Aragonese Cavalry can be upgraded to HK. Does this apply to Generals as well? It would seem to me that the big whigs would definitely have to be upgraded before the lesser guys.

Scott

Any update on these questions - would have thought HC (especially if HK upgraded) would be L armed, and that generals are also capable of upgrade.

We have a comp coming up soon so would be good to know.

Check the errata. I'm pretty sure we posted something.

Scott, this is a good question. Even if the HC stay JLS armed, the HK upgrade should not. The errata make no provision for the HK version to get L.

Kelly, please tell me you are not planning to do yet another list I was planning myself...

Note that there are a few question here...

The HC upgraded to HK should probably be L,Sh, right?

Given the extra EHK and the HC to HK upgrade, shouldn't Sub Generals be able to be EHK or HK?

Given the HC to HK upgraded, shouldn't the EHK and the HK be able to mix in units? (they are on separate lines)

I realize it's a good question. Bill and I looked at it, *that* much I remember doing.

I would have sworn I did something in the errata on this, clearly not.

I'll put it in my "pending" file. There's enough in there now to warrant another round of errata, probably in a week or two.

Jon,

With the Eratta I was thinking just that. But I doubt that I could make them work as well as you. besides, I have all of these 25mm gripping beast Carthaginians to paint. They are my next project. . . if I can ever get some time to paint, that is. Very Happy

Just for Clarification:

Quote:
Page 59, Add a new Line 6a: "Extra to upgrade HC Aragonese Cavalry to HK L, Sh @ 4 pts if general's HC element, @ 6 pts if other...0-6"

This means that a total of 6 elements can be upgraded including the generals or the generals can be upgraded and up to 6 elements of the Aragonese Cav can be upgraded as before (as far as the cav went)? I appologize it I worded this in a fuzzy way.

This is no different than any other army list. Total=total.

0-6 includes Subs. For example, if you upgraded both Subs in the list, you could then upgrade 4 other HC elements.

And no Frank, they can't mix with the Men-At-Arms. Thought about it, but it looks as if the troop types operated seperately.

Sample List time!

CinC w/PA & 5 Irr B EHK L,Sh 190
Sub w/P EHK/HK 118
Sub w/P EHK/HK 118
6 Irr B EHK L,Sh 115
6 Irr B HK L,Sh 91
16 Irr B LI CB 73
8 Irr B LC JLS,Sh 81
2 units of 12 Irr D LI B 74
2 units of 6 Irr B LMI HTW,JLS,Sh/HTW,JLS 104
6 units of 18 Irr B LMI HTW,JLS,Sh/HTW,JLS 636 = 1600
17 units, 3 commands, 22 scouting

This uses no allies. The only Ally I'd consider would be Byzantine, and that makes for a relatively low morale command with only 5 units that could easily be forced under Retreat.

The challenge, then, is to get enough units out of 1600 points when things like knights and moogs can get expensive. Thus you see the Irr D LI and the two small moog units (as a reserve.)

How to organize commands? Well, I know one command is a Sub plus the two non-general knight units with Wait orders...

I hate the LC and Irr B LI a lot...but they aren't much larger than the required minimums. The expense of the Irr B LI CB unit means you need to support it, but its morale means it shoudl, so supported, pass wavers for being charged by mounted in the open, while putting some CPF on said mounted.

Can you tell Frank is a player from the TOG generation? His knee-jerk reaction is still to refer to units by number of figures instead of number of stands.... -Mark Stone
