When camel mounted LMI dismount to fight, can you keep the camel figs at the back of the unit in case you want to remount? If so, do the camels disorder cavalry that charge into contact? This trick used to work in TOG, but I can't figure out if it still does (doubtless the rules are clear and I am an idiot).

I have a large number of Turkish archer/javelin figs from Outpost, but they don't seem to make camel mounted figs. Anyone know of a good source for Turkish camel riders, say 6-700 AD? Nobody seems to run Early Turks, and I think the list has some possibilities.

Spring comes, and then Autumn. People are born, people die. Noone cares if my camel trick works. Pinkerton does not return.

I got a little sidetracked on forum coding issues to give this the attention it deserves. Surprised

The rules are pretty clear on this, I just don't have em in front of me. The camels can still cause disorder but where that's measured from is in the rules.

Others with brains full of Warrior minutia and not phpbb coding minutia, feel free to quote chapter and verse.

I really liked the self-reply Smile.

Unfortunately, while *we* might care about camel-mounted LMI, neither Serb hackers nor Russian porn merchants do. Which would explain the lack of responses over the past few days Smile.

I will check the rules. I was not clear on first reading if the camel mounts stay on the table when mounted infantry dismount. I believe that if they stay on and the LMI is 2 ranks deep, the camels would cause disorder on contact.

It is my hope that any Serbian hackers and/or Russian pornographers who were inconvenienced by this post will accept my heartfelt apologies, which I will be offering just as soon as the temperature readings in Hell drop another 200 degrees or so.

Antiokos

We've been hacked severely over the past few days, causing a huge amount of work to set things right. So badly hacked that Ewan and Scott have forgotten their manners and explained this in riddles rather than plainly.

I think this is what you were looking for - from page 65:

6.64 REPRESENTING MOUNTS (OPTIONAL).
Players may, for aesthetics, represent the unridden mounts
of dismounted troops. The player provides one mounted
element (2-4 horses or camels on a cavalry/camelry-sized
base) for each dismounted element. These elements are
placed in contact with the dismounted troops as rear ranks.
These ‘mount elements’ have no separate existence, do not
count extra for CPF and are there for aesthetic purposes
only. They are removed when the infantry mounts or when
they interfere with combat resolution or the movement of
other bodies.
6.65 MOUNTS OF DISMOUNTED TROOPS.
Dismounted troops are the dismounted troop type for ALL
purposes. Their mounts are ‘present’ (whether modeled by
6.64 or not) but not ‘inside their formation’ for any purpose
such as being treated as mounted troops for approach
initiative or being disordered by camels or elephants. As the
mounts are present even if not part of the formation, they
will, if camels, disorder other horses under 5.221. The range
of this effect is measured from anywhere on the REAR edge
of the dismounted infantry body.

Let Scott know if you need more help. But this is a rules question and would catch me sooner if asked there.

Jon

Thanks! This answers the question very completely. I appreciate it. Now all I have to do is find some Turkish camel rider figs.
