is that truly along the arc (a good trick in millimetrics) or is it the short-cut chord distance?

It shouldn't be the "short cut" distance. When I posted above about how the distance was calculated, it was done via the arc.

Again, I'm still waiting to confirm the actual distance. Actually, I should have simply asked my wife the rocket scientist--she was the one who provided the info to us in the first place.
