Hello Jon,
These questions primarily concern an FW game using Feudal Japanese (FW 264), which often have unique abilities, but also have a wider application.
1) When double-armed mounted troops dismount, do they retain their missile weapon?
I said Yes: Reasons:
6.61 (P64) This covers both the order they adopt when dismounted, and as per the sentence which begins 'When they dismount...' means that, in essence, you merely subtract their mounts from the equation.
2.33 (P12) Deals with special cases only and, with regard to dismount-capable troops, purely the weapon they would use in h-t-h.
So: 2E Irr B HK 2HCT all LB [option], PA when dismounted retain their LB (and in this case, also their PA).
2) If this interpretation is correct, does the LB, when dismounted, now use Ft ranges for for shooting purposes?
Admittedly, Japanese seem almostunique in their ability to use LB while mounted, so I wasn't 100% certain, but again I said Yes: Reason:
As per above, they count as a foot element for all purposes. Therefore, as the reduced range while mounted didn't lessen its weapon factor, it was attributable to factors other than the inherent power of the weapon itself.
Thanks again for your help, Raphael
Apologies for appearing to be so legalistic, but it appears that I am to be the umpire for any forthcoming Warrior games, so I would like to know if my reasoning is correct.
(This was quite an interesting game as it pitted 2 first time players both with no previous WRG or DBM form against one another. They had previously fought the game using WAB, and despite a kill ratio of 9:1 in his favour the Japanese player lost because his figures were more expensive point for point and total points lost is the sole factor for deciding the victor)
Suffice to say, the combination of Ft LB and 2HCT armed LEHI (if my interpretation is correct ) despite now being Irr C were more than a match for the opposing Greek hoplites - who could sorely have done with being Spartans
Thanks, Raphael |
