| Fairly simple question, not: in this list English longbowmen are available with the quantaty *4-8. Also, there are other English military available, all with *s. In the list notes it states, "minimums marked * apply only if more than 4 English Longbowmen are used." So, does that mean that 4 English Longbowmen are required for the army, and more than 4 requires an ally-gen and all the other stuff that goes with it; or, does that mean that no English Longbowmen are required, but you may purchase up to 4 without taking an Ally? |

You can use 4E of English Longbowmen and not have to get all the rest of the asterisked stuff.

Your original phrasing of the question wasn't clear in that regard.
No, you're not forced to take the 4E of English Longbowmen.
