I know this has been addressed, but last night Matt and I played and we couldn't find the answer.
Unit A shakes
Sub joins unit
Unit A sees more trouble and wavers again.
They route
What happens to the Sub Gen.
Does he go with them routing or does he just stay there and wave goodbye.
Ed the questionable. |

If joined, he is now part of a combined unit and the whole thing breaks together when it fails the waver test while shaken. _________________ Roll Up and Win! |

Ed,
But why would you ever want to JOIN a unit in an attempt to rally it from shaken??? You would most likely have intercepted the unit instead. Therefore, you would have to take a waiver test, just like any other unit w/in 120 paces, for seeing the rout. You would not break if the shaken unit failed its test (unless of course you failed both waiver tests). It is a much safer way to rally units.

in Dads defense, at the time, it didn't appear all that risky.....the unit was far enough away from "apparent" trouble to rally. I was able to snake a chariot unit in to get a charge off forcing the second test, his flank was covered by a knight unit, so a little bit risky....but in game looked much safer ( I didn't really think Id be able to get that charge either as it was at the end of my charge distance and between 2 terrain features I couldn't run chariots into.)
The shaken unit was also pretty vital to the flank, without it, he had 3 knight units against alot of bows as the Tartar flank march was sluggish to appear on the flank! |

Still, Todd is of course correct: interception is (always) the way to go (and mandatory in any case for generals who are themselves in a sizable unit). |
