Howdy,

Played my first game of warrior last week (moderated by Matt Kollmer) and really enjoyed the detail and attention to historical detail.

Just got my rules yesterday.

Looking forward to playing again.

We have a local club here in Pittsfield MA, we play a lot of different historical wargames and new members are welcome.

Ewan,

We're always looking for new faces in our gaming group.

Our regular nights are Mondays at Conte Community School

200 West Union Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201-3957 (Silvio O Conte Community School)

but email in advance because sometimes we miss a night or play at another location.

Matt Kollmer does indeed exist, but his appearances are rare.

I look forward to more games of warrior

Ahhhh yes I have heard about this encounter. Macedonian vs Romans . It was a great game I have heard and it seemed to turn out in some measure pretty historical.
I too wish to march across the table against your Romans ( I think you have these, am I correct)
So Ewan, I will try to give him a little practice, Or maybe you will give more insight into the finer details of the game before he meets me which he probably won't need against me.
Anyway, welcome and hope to me you soon especially after all Matt has said about you Which is all positive.
Matt K, if you read this remember Batu and his Golden Horde are moving on the plain of Gaugamela to meet your Parthians rabble.
Ed the Byzantinophil Very Happy Very Happy

Just built my Late Republican Army on paper. Looking forward to finishing my Gallic army in the next year (probably 100 more infantry figures and 20 cav to paint)

Question.

Is it unacceptable to field Gallic cav in 4 base elements?

The books suggests 2 elements per unit.

Any thoughts or rulings?

I just got the walls wiped with me playing 25mm Aztecs (didn't realize how strong shooting was especially against small units)

Looking forward to more games.

Matt -

- unit sizes are at your discretion; most folk use most loose order cav in 2E units, but that's entirely a matter of choice (and how you intend to use the unit - I have on several occasions bought cheap B-armed MC/HC in 6E or 9E units intending to shoot up opposing LC, for example).

Hey Matt and Ewan
I am using Ewan's idea of Bow armed Medium Cav to mass fire on opponents. I just made a Golden Horde army from Matt K's Timurids and I want to see how MC bow in 6Element units will do against Matt K's Parthians.
And yes Matt W, bow fire can be rough on small units'
Oh. Who played the AZtecs and what was the opposing army.????
I am trying to get up there to play you.

My warrior priests and Eagle warriors withered under the darts of some Aztec militia.

Matt K. and I played a game of fast warrior both with Aztec armies, I opted to give all my units Javelins for the combat oomph. Lesson learned.

My basement is always open and the Roman army is at 1600 points.

HUhHHHH?????/ 1600pts you say.
Do you like historical matchups or should I try any army.
The closest historical army I have would be Early Imperial Roman. Smile Roman Civil War. Livius will bring his army of the Danube to crush any who distrube the PAX ROMANA.
But I have Nicophorian Byzantine, Hoplite Greek(Spartan w/Xenophon's the 10000), Feudal German(Rudolf of Hapsburg, Holy Roman Emperor, w/his trusted commander Otto of the Silver Hand)
My biggest problem is time. Finding the time is always my biggest obstacle.

I should come over (or vice versa - we have a ton of space here). Would be very nice to have a localish extra opponent, and I am sure we could get Jevon in for it...

so I completely missed this thread......that's terrible!
I do exist.... sometimes!
beware! Matt W will be a force with more experience, his loses were based largely on the unexpected shooting strength of my Aztecs and just learning Warrior in general, but the last game we played, Aztecs vs (Matts) Marian Roman -1600pts- was a pretty good fight and his play and list building was sound. Experience won the day in the end, and I still made a couple mistakes I shouldn't have. Charging my Tepenec warriors (LMI JLS S sh) frontally into a steady legion for instance, Luckily I didnt rout.
The Golden Horde vs Parthian battle was fun, The big (6E) MC B units were tough, My Infantry was pretty much null and void as dad but 2 2E LC units to completely stall them, the cav battles were fun as they always are! Until I rolled a catastrophe and my Sub died! (I think Ewan knows how that can happen Smile ) Overall a great time.
I'll be at the Berkshires Game Day on 6/11, FYI. Still holding out some hope for Huzzah.............

He is pretty awesome. Wink

Kind words from Matt K. I am still trying to figure out the subtleties of the game, and I'll need more Gallic Cav to run down those pesky LMI.

See you all in June.

Looking forward to June 11.
I think I will play Later Hoplites or Nicophorian Byzantines.
I have to look at the Errata for Holy Warrior.
