I just completed the first unit (with flocking dtill to come for the hoplite theme.
I got a box of amazons - painted them up as Hoplites with medusa leading them (part of another E-Bay purchase) - could not resist them - but the unit helped establish how I was going to paint the army, and will represent the ally general.
I am basing this on the theory behind the Amazon myth - that these were the women who had to defend the homeland when the men were on campaign - and were related to the scythians - where apparently it was not unknown for women to fight mounted.
I can post a picture should anyone care - but I am not the worlds best painter.
All the best

you are a man after my own heart. That is something I would do.
I am not a great painter either but I would love to see them.

I finished the 10000 with Xenophon.
Matt has to base them up. It will be awhile because he is up to his ears in sports etc Coaching and gets his kids to hockey, soccer, gymnastics. Oh did I forget working. Shocked

Nice!

Shield patterns are outstanding ... are these transfers or freehand?

Bill - Transfers - I could not see to paint that well - but they went on very well - normally I struggle with transfers but these were fairly easy.
My biggest issue was painting and repainting sheilds to get something that looked decent as a base (painting rims etc does not look very good)

You need to be logged in to see the pictures. Believe me, once you log in, you can't help but see the pictures. Um Rob, next time consider compressing them a bit. Shocked

Regardless, I'm looking forward to this theme. Heh heh, I always look forward to themes but this one should be one of the more visually striking ones. With our terrain suite, we might have some of the best looking tourney games of the show!
