Epilogue:
The twelve candles glowed brightly. It’s flames burning straight and long as sentinels around their charge. The Radiance of their gleam enveloped their ward and held back the darkness which surrounded him.
Schriftides wrote on his inclined desk, completing the last few lines of Leonidas’ story. He looked up and smiled. What a grand and glorious ride it has been! He has so much to thank those stalwart opponents: Ewan, BillL, RobertT, MattK, MattW, BillF, and JakeK. How can he repay such support?
He gazes down sadly. His only regret is that he was unable to contest the Toddmeister on the craggy isle of Rhodes, to dethrone Dan Wookius, Tyrant of Crete, and to cross spears with Taharqa Jevones, Noble Lion of Africa.
Suddenly, the flames flickered. As he turned his head, a warm and soothing presence filled his orb of light and breathed ever so sweetly.
“I bid thee to bed, my beloved. To sleep soothingly from your scribing.”
He grinned, wrote his last word. FINI
He placed his pen down, rose, extinguished the candles one by one, turned and followed the spirit. |
