X 2.512 Element Bases:

25mm Elephants and Chariots must be mounted on 60x80mm bases.

X 2.52 Units & X 2.53 Detachments

Chariots also permit the mixing of Regulars and Irregulars just as Elephants do.

X 5.11. Eager. Add a new bullet to the section "Bodies are eager while any of the following apply"

If the body is entirely Reg B.

X 5.11. Bullet 3. Change "480" to "720".

X 5.15. Demoralization. A command has a demoralization level equal to its number of units. Each on its on-table units that are destroyed or broken count 1 toward that level, shaken units count 0.5 toward that level. Commands are demoralized when they reach half of their demoralization level.

X 5.51. Change the die rolled for a waver test to a d10 ('0' is a '10'). Change the numbers required to pass a waver test to A=2, B=3, C=4, D=5, E=6.

X 5.52. Waver Test Causes. Bullet 7. Range for seeing a Sacred Standard lost and waver testing changes to 720p.

X 6.11. Close Order Foot Movement. Steady close order foot moving in open have a tactical move distance of 120p.

X 6.19. Reform. Instead of making an approach, counter or retirement move, a steady regular unit may reform. To reform, a unit must be in block. One element in the front rank stays precisely in place. This element is either the center element (in a unit with an odd number of elements in the front rank) or one of the two center elements (in a unit with an even number of elements in the front rank). All other elements may be arranged in any way so long as the end result is a legal block formation. Reforming counts as a complete move of the appropriate type (approach, counter or retirement) and all other rules for that type of move apply. No other movement or maneuver may be combined with reforming.

X 6.2 Close Order Marching. Steady Reg close order foot may march on march segment 3. Steady Irr loose foot may march on march segment 3 but take a fatigue point for doing so.

X 6.45. EHC Skirmish. Add to the list of troops allowed to adopt skirmish formation if otherwise eligible: EHC.

X 8.6. Shooting Ranges. In Table 8.1, delete Organ Guns from 4th row. Add new row. In Weapon column insert 'Organ Guns'. In Close Range column insert "160p". Put nothing in the Long Range column.

X 11.1. Fire Syphoneers/Naptha Bombers. 6th Bullet: Insert ", Fire Syphoneers/Naptha Bombers" after "and/or artillery". At the end add "Fire Syphoneers/Naptha Bombers/Artillery do not take a -1 when firing on bodies in Shieldwall formation."

X 12.21. The home climate rules of 12.21 are ignored. Replace with:
Each army adds it scouting points total to 2D6, then halves it for each cautious general and again if any 'E' class units in army and doubles for each rash general and again if there any 'Irr A' class units in the army. The army with the lower total is considered to be in its home climate for purposes of 14.31.

X 17.1. SHC Troop Cost. Subtract 6 points from the final cost of an SHC element if general's, subtract 8 points if other. This applies to Reg and Irr elements.

X 17.1 Camelry Troop Cost. Change the current cost table to this:

MCm/LCm @ 7 pts if Reg, @ 5 pts if Irr
HCm @ 9 pts if Reg, @ 7 pts if Irr
EHCm @ 9 pts if Irr (there are no Reg EHCm)
SHCm @ 11 pts if Irr (there are no Reg SHCm)

Reduction for deleting Sh and cost for additional weapons and morale adjustments remain the same (which are the same as for cavalry)

X 17.2. Sacred Standard Cost. Change the cost for Reg or Irr to 30 points.

X 18.5. Determining A Victor. The threshold level of 4 remains the same as is currently outlined in Fast Warrior. The difference now is that each unit broken/destroyed counts 1 toward that threshold, shaken units count 0.5 toward that total. As such, the game is scored slightly differently:

Each side gets 1 point for each enemy unit broken/destroyed and 0.5 points for each enemy unit shaken/off-table up to a maximum of 4 points.

All other point scores remain the same from the regular rule as do all other scoring rules.

Classical Warrior X-Rules:

One-Element Elephant Units: Elephants in the Hellenistic armies covered by Classical Warrior were often deployed in a dispersed array across the front of a wing or even the entire army, rather than being concentrated in denser units. This X-Rule is intended to model this practice, and to reflect the somewhat greater maneuverability of dispersed (as opposed to massed) elephants. Any elephant model in Classical Warrior may, at the player’s option, be organized as a unit of one element (Warrior 2.51). One-element elephant units are units for all game purposes. When this X-Rule is in effect, independent elephant-mounted staff elements move like a one-element elephant unit but are not otherwise a unit. (Warrior 2.513)

One-element elephant units may make one maneuver and still move up to their full distance in an approach, counter, retirement or staff move. They may not make two maneuvers, even at a reduced movement distance. (Warrior 6.12)

One-element elephant units pay 10 command factor points.

Ekdromoi: This X-Rule models the capability of the fully-developed Hoplite phalanx to detach men of the younger age classes as ekdromoi or “runners out,” usually to chase off enemy light-armed missle troops, returning immediately to the ranks after the initial brief rush. Their mission was limited in time and scope, and they did not constitute a detachment in the ordinary sense. This X-Rule applies only to troops named “Hoplites” in CW lists 2, 3, 6-8, 11, 13, 17, 22-27, 30, 32 and 37-39, and those named “Greek Hoplites” in CW lists 4, 5, 9, 10, 15, 16, 18 and 34, and to generals’ elements in those lists incorporated into a unit with such troops: A body of 6 or more elements of such troops may detach two contiguous front rank elements as ekdromoi during the Charge Declarations phase (Warrior 3.2.7, 6.163), and immediately replace the detached elements in place with their loose order equivalent (i.e., HI are replaced with LHI, and MI are replaced with LMI). The parent body need not comply with Warrior 2.52 to detach ekdromoi, but must be in compliance by the end of the following Approach phase.

Such detached elements are thereafter treated for all purposes as a detachment, except that (i) they must make a recall move when other bodies may do so under Warrior 6.36, (ii) starting in the bound after detachment, they must move as quickly as possible to rejoin their parent body, and (iii) they must be reincorporated into their parent body (and replaced with their close order equivalent) at ANY time any element of such a detachment is in contact with any element of its parent body.

Neither detachment nor reincorporation counts as a maneuver. No command points are paid for such detachments. When ekdromoi are reincorporated into their parent body, the combined unit immediately gains the higher of their FP totals (Warrior 5.31).

Ekdromoi never fight as such when in contact with the parent body, but always revert to their close order equivalent in such circumstances, and thus may not expand in a followup move by the parent body.

The above has been updated to reflect changes to the SHC cost. It now includes SHCm and general's SHC elements.

Did we have a list of troops permitted/not-permitted to use Barb Inf rules for Oriental Warrior yet?

The above has been edited to reflect a new X Rule (2.512 Element Bases).

And no, Barbarian Rules haven't yet been extended to Oriental Warrior.

Concerning X 12.21. "and again if there any 'Irr A' class units in the army..." Is that for any units with Irreg 'A', or units that are entirely Irreg 'A'?

Concerning X 5.15. Demoralization. I have a suggestion that we get rid of the "halvsies" in the rule, and make breaks = 2 points, shakes = 1 point. Command is demoralized when its Demoralization level is reached.

Hello Scott,

Now that elephants mounted on 60mm x 80mm bases are stipulated for Warrior competitions, do they also recoil their full base depth?

Thanks,

Raphael

Recoil is always 40p (unless blocked by non-lights), so elephants still recoil 40mm in 25mm scale and 1 inch in 15mm scale.
