Well - it has been dry here for a while. With Historicon looming in the upcoming months I thought I'd revive a little Warrior discussion with a list.

Hausa States - AW #9

1591 points - 63 scouting

CinC 2E Ir B EHC L,sh + PA - 170
Sub 2E Ir B EHC L,sh + P - 105

2x Hakimai 2E 2E Ir B EHC L,sh - 91 [182]
2E Ghulam Cav Ir C SHC/EHC L,Sh - 103

2x 2E Ghulam Cav Reg C LC L,D,Sh - 50 [100]

6E Village Cav Ir C LC B - 73
6E Sura Tribal Cav Ir B LC Jls,D,Sh - 121

12E Urban Militia Ir D (1C) MI 1/3 LTS,Jls,D,Sh 1/3 LTS,Jls,D 1/3 Jls - 157

2x 6E Urban Militia Bowmen Reg C LMI B 1/2 Sh - 94 [188]

3x 4E Ghulam Spearmen Reg C LMI Jls,B,Sh - 90 [270]

2x 6E Village Skirmishers Ir C LI Jls,Sh - 61 [122]

You could swap out the two 6E bowmen and get some more ghulam spearmen at about the same cost and can even get up to 24E of Ghulam Spearmen.

I like the big block - either as a moving terrain piece or an anchor. Tough to break (by combat anyway).

The LC is ok... but there is enough bowfire to help it out. A flank being supported by either a 6E unit or 4E unit of bowmen should tip the scales.

Thoughts?

Todd

Your 'fighting guys' cover about half the table...and you have middling lights for the rest.

Your lancers are relatively inferior to what we normally see (either knights or Sassanid SHC or Byzantine tricksy lancers).

Your infantry are...also generally inferior to their counterparts. I'm not sure you have great synergy between troop types to overcome these handicaps.

I take some offense with the "tricksy" Byzantine lancers.
I admit that we Byzantinophils have some well thought out tactics but not "tricksy".........

OK
You guys are looking at AW.
So I decided to look around. MattK is building a Zulu army and ToddK is looking at all those Sahara armies and Ethiopian.
So I looked in the middle. Lake Country Bahima.
They can get Masai. Not great army but ...........

Hmm, another Zulu army being built? We could almost have a Zulu themed tournament. Smile
