Below is a reprint of my usual invite letter. Since this will be an open event this year, I need your help in getting the message out to folks so please forward this as you see fit.

You are invited to participate in this year's National Individual Championship Tournament (NICT) hosted by NASAMW at Historicon held in Fredericksburg VA. I need several things from you by certain times.

What I need NOW:

1) Whether or not you will be participating.

By 8 July I need:

1) Your army list. PLEASE use the attached file for submitting your army list.

The NICT Format:

Army Lists: 25mm, 1600 pts, ONE list, 3.5 hour rounds, 8x5 tables, Pre-set terrain, Deployment Rules as posted in the Warrior Forum. You may exceed 1600 points by the cost of the cheapest element in your list but your opponent gets 5 times that value subtracted from his raw score when determining the basic score under the 5-0 system. Lists must be FHE with correcting errata available from our website (www.fourhorsemenenterprises.com). Biblical Warrior and Dark Age Warrior lists must come from the new, pdf-only versions should you decide to play them. African Warrior draft lists allowed.

Scoring: The standard 5-0 weighted system.

Rules: The BLACK rule book with the latest clarifications (27 Feb 2016) will be in effect.

The Barbarian Foot Rules and Deployment Rules will be in effect.

The following X-Rules will be in effect:

X 2.512 Element Bases: 25mm Elephants must be mounted on 60x80mm bases.

X 5.11. Eager. Add a new bullet to the section "Bodies are eager while any of the following apply": If the body is entirely Reg B.

X 6.2 Close Order Marching. Steady Reg close order foot may march on march segment 3. Steady Irr loose foot may march on march segment 3 but take a fatigue point for doing so.

X 11.1. Fire Syphoneers/Naptha Bombers. 6th Bullet: Insert ", Fire Syphoneers/Naptha Bombers" after "and/or artillery". At the end add "Fire Syphoneers/Naptha Bombers/Artillery do not take a -1 when firing on bodies in Shieldwall formation."

X 17.1. SHC/SHCm Troop Cost. Subtract 6 points from the final cost of an SHC/SHCm element if general's, subtract 8 points if other. This applies to Reg and Irr elements.

Schedule: Round 1: Thu 12pm. Round 2: Thu 5:00pm. Those making the cut (see below) then play three rounds on Saturday, Round 3: 9am, Round 4: 1:30pm, Round 5: 6pm. Award ceremony Saturday night around 10:15pm.

Cut: Players with 6 or more base points after the first two rounds make the cut. Any player who wins one of his first two rounds by a base score of 5-x makes the cut. This assumes we have a cut. We haven't the last four years so be prepared to play 5 rounds.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Turnout this year is better than I expected. As such, and assuming all the people below actually show up, then we will have a cut. If there's a tie, I'll "round down" meaning even if you otherwise met the criteria to make the cut, it still might not happen. I've only seen this once so hold any potential whining until it actually happens.

The bonus from my perspective is that this means we can have a separate Open event on Saturday. We can make it Mini or straight Open, the people participating can decide. This works out well in that Bill Chamis is coming down Friday night so that means we'll have plenty of people for a full event on Saturday with me rounding out the field in case of odd numbers. I'm also not sure about Rich Novak and his son. They were actually at our B&B earlier this year and indicated they'd be playing but I'm not sure in what or when.

Also too, given the size of the FL contingent this year, instead of my straight shuffle cards and pair people, I'm gonna make sure those guys don't play each other in the 1st round. Given that they're probably sharing a ride up, spending that amount of time in a car with Derek should not be punished with an NICT game until Saturday.

Okay, here's who I have (as of Friday morning, 8 July) for the NICT and whether or not they've submitted a list:

Frank Gilson (have list)
Sean-Patrick Scott (have list)
Greg Hauser (no list)
Scott McDonald (no list)
Derek Downs (no list)
Rich Kroupa (have list)
Todd Kaeser (no list)
Mark Stone (have list)
Dan Woyke (no list)
Matt Kollmer (no list)
Terry Dix (no list)
Bill Low (no list)
Larry Daum (have list)
Rick Parrish (have list)
Steve Rawls (have list)
Jamie White (have list)
Rob Richardson (have list)

That's 17 players! Again, not sure about the Novaks but like last year, I'll play to round out the field for Thursday if needed.

I'd be happy to write lists for all of them. I'm thinking maybe something from Biblical Warrior, from that nostalgic time before shields were widely used.... Nubian, anyone?
