Manuscript from Edwardus to the emperor on actions in Council of 5 Nations.

I, Theophylact, servant to Edwardus, commander of the western army, now scribe events as dictated to me from my master, who is unable to write the documents due to his wounds that he received from combat with the enemies of our glorious emperor.
Edwardus crossed the river Hudson and soon encountered the Rajput army of Jevongarrettmendra. We had come upon him by surprise. (he was outscouted). The field was open except for on hill in the middle. He immediately deployed his elephants and infantry to our left of the hill with small IrA attack units. The cavalry were on our far left wing. The right of the hill was empty. My master deployed his slingers and bow units before the elephants and infantry. It is recorded from eyewitnesses that he stated, “Let them eat slings and arrows!”
He than moved his Varangians to the right of the hill. He stated to me that he hoped to flank the Rajput line. He deployed Demitri’s heavy cavalry command to the rear, in order to march where the need was great. The battle opened with reciprocal volleys of slings and arrow. Our forces took the worst of the exchange. A small IrA unit attacked the hill and drove off our brave LI. A fierce battle occurred on the hill. The Rajput unit showed no fear and gave their lives dearly. It took our feared varangians to finally clear the hill.
Unfortunately, the elephants were breaking our center. Demitri marched to the left to confront the Rajput cavalry. After much exchange of arrows, Demitri was able to route one of the Rajput heavy cavalry units. Ruinously, he lost two of his HC units.
My master seeing that if he could turn the tide of the Rajput advance and not expose our horses to the elephants, drove into the enemy cavalry. It was at this moment that my master was struck by an enemy arrow. His retinue managed to carry him to safety.
Simultaneously, the varangian wings slowed down by Rajput LI were too late to attack the Rajput line. Word of my master’s fall called for the varangian withdrawal.
