Could someone point me to a competitive Burgundian Ordonnance list?

The power gamers will tell you there ain't one. Instead they'll tell you to play Early Burgundian.

I'm probably the only one around with any experience, albeit horribly dated, running BO. I've probably got a list around here somewhere. I'll try to post it later in the week...not that my own lists are terribly great but I've used it in one Theme and did okay.

Don't worry, the lawyers I'm playing against aren't that competitive, just sneaky. I like the BO's ability to swap command points for ditched palisades, as needed. IS there a way to gain benefit from the HG troops?

Note that various units (enemy close order foot, in particular) who receive 2 or more CPF from Prep fire including handguns must waver, as they don't count shielded to all the fire received (thus the Handguns)...so a little bit of handgun mixed in with a bunch of longbow can be a way to 'crack' tough formations of enemy foot...just don't get run down by lancers.

Competitive to win a tournament or competitive to compete in most battles?

I'm finding that loving an army is more fun than playing a "power" army anyway - that being said some armies are lacking so much that they don't compete in most battles.

A significant problem to overcome with Burgundian Ordonnance is that you do not occupy that much frontage, and will have fewer scouting points than many opponents and so be setting up commands before the enemy, often.

So, you have to counter this with your list composition and deployment planning, leveraging terrain, obstacles, temporary fortifications, etc.

Turns out I don't have an extant BO list from the last time I ran it.

Frank points out why HGs can be potent. They don't need to be the main piece of firepower. They just have to contribute so that when the threshold is reached for Prep Shooting, you can cause waver tests. It requires careful setup and finesse to accomplish.

BO is a counter puncher's army. Prior to preset terrain, most of my success with the list always depended on my terrain rolls because as Frank points out, you will have a tiny army. I would always either make sure the flanks were somewhat secured or that I had enough crap in terrain to slow down the other guy so we could come to terms before said flanks crumbled.

With preset terrain, it's a different deployment model although you're still counter punching. A recent visual display would help, in this case the photos Todd took of one of Ewan's NICT games in 2017, specifically against Midianites. Some links to the Album section:

He's setup in the corner behind various obstacles, etc., and will counter punch. It's a variation of the Dick Hurchanik Memorial Samurai Deployment Scheme. Laughing

Look at that. For Ewan's account of running the army:

In fact, Todd took a decent number of photos showing Ewan's slight variations on a theme setup:

That should give you enough to chew on IRT BO.
