Todd Kaeser
Matt Kollmer
Ed "The Rash" Kollmer
Scott McDonald
Jake Kovel
Fred Stratton +1

Ewan McNay
Terry Dix

Council of Five Nations

Date: October 6 (Saturday)
Start time 9:00 am (game start
(so be here at 8:30ish)

Where:
Proctor's Theater and Conference Center
432 State Street
Schenectady, NY 12305

Format: 25mm
Points: 1400
Table Size 5x7
Preset Terrain on tables
Rounds: 3 hours (ending by 6ish pm)

Starts at 9 AM (Meaning putting troops on the table)

Armies: This is a one list tournament
Classical, Imperial, Holy, Feudal, Oriental books, the republished Biblical and Dark Ages books, African warrior and the New World Theme lists from 2013

Special Rules for C5N:

Barbarian Foot rules and Deployment rules in effect.
X-Rules 2.512, 2.52, 2.53, 5.11, , 6.2, 11.1, in use.

General Characters Special Rule:
The general characters of 5+ can be Bold or reroll on Special General’s table (CinC can choose to roll regardless):
1 Bleeder. General has a physical defect that makes him more prone to a catastrophe. In Hand to Hand, if the Bleeder's unit takes 2 CPF or more, and makes an unmodified melee roll of -2, -3, or -4, forces a catastrophe. In preparatory shooting, if the Bleeder's unit takes 2 CPF and the missile fire die roll is +2 or higher, forces a catastrophe.
2 Inattentive. General is sick or wounded. General gets only 10 prompt points a turn.
3 Efficient General gets 20 prompt points.
4 Brave, General’s unit always adds an additional +1 in melee (So a down 3 roll for a Regular B General is even).
5 Inspirational. Unit with general is never uneasy. If the General is the CIC then all units within 120 paces are never uneasy.
6 Great. General is Efficient, Brave, and Inspirational.

***JLS Armed Cavalry vs Foot Rule****
All JLS-armed cavalry fight 1.5 ranks in hand-to-hand combat versus any foot if charging, countercharging or pursuing.

Friday Dinner/Travel/Food/Loaners Armies

Friday Dinner : (DIRECTLY FROM EWAN)
Speaking of dinner: Dinner event Friday night. Guessing most likely is at my place, and I promise that the wine is good (and will still be rated as good even if Frank shows up)
but PLEASE let me know if you will be in the area at Friday dinner time so that I can plan.

Lunch: Normally we get Pizza ordered, and keep lunch short! (trying to get done at a reasonable hour)

Lodging: (for travelers)
Hampton Inn (next door to the theater) $180
DoubleTree $160 (3 mins )
Days Inn $93 (3 mins)
America Best Value $73 (3 mins)

LOANERS:
The Warrior group in the North East has the ability to do loaner armies, we just need to know who is traveling from afar and what would be needed. (Now we might not have everything, so we will try our best)
(please reach out to us ).

Franklin,

Of course, we will raise a glass for you!

Maybe we should get a bottle of Antinori Tignanello
2015 for this event. Very Happy

The word is "Tentative" for poeple showing.

But if we get 14 to 16 people it is a great showing.

I really hope so, because I have twisted the venue into giving us additional tables - if we don't get 15-16 it's going to be rather embarrassing now :-/

Also: can people *please* let me know who is in for Friday dinner? Email: emcnay@albany.edu - thanks!

As Demitri marched into the camp on the outskirts to Thessaloniki, he noticed the banner of Edwardus on the commander tent. He signaled to his subordinates to continue the march and set up camp. He spurred his horse on and slides from the saddle as he reined up before the entrance. The guards saluted Demitri as he passed into the tent. He soon found Edwardus talking to ministers of all levels in preparation for the expedition.
When Edwardus saw Demitri, his countenance changed. He rose and moved toward Demitri.
“My friend, how goes it. When you left the monastery months ago before we able to talk. I was glad that you going to secure the Bulgarian frontier. However, things have changed. The Emperor needs us to advance to Schenectady and the Council.”
Demitri’s face changed……..
“The council….” He mururred.
Edwardus’s eyes tilled and a small grin appeared on his face.
“Yes, my friend. Don’t look so amazed. Or was that fear on your face.”
“Not fear!” Demitri groaned.
“Don’t confuse caution for fear. I remember well last year. They were very hard fights. We almost lost you and Michael. Actually, is that why you picked Michael to guard the border. I know that Zulu wound still bothers him.”
“Partially, yes, But I needed someone I could trust to cover it.”
“When do we march?”
“The fleet is assembling. Soon, we will board. We have Othgar’s Varangians. They just came yesterday. And yes it will be a hard fight, but we have never skirted from a challenge.”
Demitri smiled and grabbed Edwardus hand. The two locked hands and steeled their resolve

Hmmm, the table widths have 1/8 missing...and the army point totals also! Coincidence? Wink

Good to see some varied circumstances including point totals...makes players have to think.

PostPosted: Thu Oct 04, 2018 12:16 am    Post subject: Council of 5 Nations (Deployment and X-rules) UPDATE

Warrior Tournament
Deployment and X-rules

DEPLOYMENT:

Pre-Set Terrain;Table Assignment:
Tables with pre-set terrain will be assigned to players at random for each round of games. Armies that have special rules (example Mongols) follow their rules:
Choice of Table Edge. Players dice for table edge, high roll choosing the side, die roll of player with more scouting points (SPs) modified as follows:
Modifiers:
• 3:1 or more SPs @ +4
• 2:1 or more SPs (but fewer than 3:1) +3
• more SPs (but fewer than 2:1) +2

Deployment:
Order of Commands: After both players have written deployment orders, When placing commands, players dice before each command placement pairing (one command each) to determine who places the appropriate command first. The largest command (by point value) is deployed first, then in declining order to smallest.
Modifiers:
• Has more but not double scouting +1
• Has double but not triple scouting. +2
• Has triple the scouting +3.

Deployment- Zones. The zones in which forces deploy vary by the ratio of players:
• SPs.3:1 or more = lesser force deploys up to 360p from baseline, greater force deploys up to the centerline

• 2:1 or more (but fewer than 3:1) = lesser force deploys up to 240p from the centerline, greater force deploys up to the centerline

• Less than 2:1 = both forces deploy up to 120p from the centerline

Notes:
There are no force marching/fatigue points for deploying in the forward zone when allowed to do so when less 2:1 SP ratio. If 2:1 or 3:1 SP ratio occurs, you can still force march up to the centerline, paying the appropriate pts penalty, provided you push back to be at least 240p from the nearest enemy (who will be entitled to deploy at the centerline). Either player may conceal units as an ambush in their deployment area, even if the player is out-scouted and the ambush is in the forward zone
Artillery and such which deploys further than 240p from the base edge of the table still counts as if it force marched for shooting eligibility purposes only.

X-rules for C5N

Barbarian Foot rules and Deployment rules in effect.

X-Rules 2.512, 2.52, 2.53, 5.11, , 6.2, 11.1, in use.(see below)

5.11. Eager. Add a new bullet to the section "Bodies are eager while any of the following apply = If the body is at least entirely Reg B.

6.2 Close Order Marching. Steady Reg close order foot may march on march segment 3. Steady Irr loose foot may march on march segment 3 but take a fatigue point for doing so.

17.1. SHC Troop Cost. Subtract 6 points from the final cost of an SHC/SHCm element if general's, subtract 8 points if other. This applies to Reg and Irr elements.

17.1. Camelry Troop Cost. Change the current cost table to this:
• MCm/LCm @ 7 pts if Reg, @ 5 pts if Irrg
• HCm @ 9 pts if Reg, @ 7 pts if Irr
• EHCm @ 9 pts if Irr (there are no Reg EHCm)
• SHCm @ 11 pts if Irr (there are no Reg SHCm)

General Characters Special Rule:
The general characters of 5+ can be Bold or reroll on Special General’s table
(CinC can choose to roll regardless):

• 1 Bleeder.
• 2 Inattentive. General is sick or wounded. General gets only 10 prompt points a turn.
• 3 Efficient General gets 20 prompt points.
• 4 Brave, General’s unit always adds an additional +1 in melee (So a down 3 roll for a Regular B General is even).
• 5 Inspirational. Unit with general is never uneasy. If the General is the CIC then all units within 120 paces are never uneasy.
• 6 Great. General is Efficient, Brave, and Inspirational.

JLS Armed Cavalry vs Foot Rule:

• All JLS-armed cavalry fight 1.5 ranks in hand-to-hand combat versus any foot if charging, countercharging or pursuing.

The Hulking armored figure strode to his warhorse and gracefully mounted the steed. He waved to his retinue and they moved forward. He gazed over the hordes of marching troops as they moved undaunted to the east. This massive steely figure was Roberto Turnbull, hero of the midwest, lord of lanscaster , hammer of warriors, the fear of his opponents.....
He raised his helmet , the helm of victory, and smiled, a smile of knowing........
