Looking at the new and improved lists here is my "I'm bored during a prep period/after school let me make a list"

CinC Reg B SHK L,Sh PA 224
Sub Reg B SHK L,Sh P 154

2E English Knights Reg B SHK/HK L,Sh 103

2x 2E Gascon Knights Ir B SHK L,Sh 133 (266)

3x 6E English Longbowmen Reg C LMI LB 1/2 Sh 3 stakes 100 (300)

4x 4E English Longbowmen Reg C LHI/LMI LB 1/2 2HCW,Sh 2 stakes 86 (344)

2x 4E Irish Kerns Ir C LI B 1/2Sh 45 (90) - could go Jls instead to hold terrain better

4E Welsh Reg C LI B 34

4E Brigans Ir C HI/MI LTS Pa/Sh 89

1604 - 6 scouting

I agree the irish cav isn't worth it - not enough scouting and routable for sure.

Todd

Good to see another version of HYWE...always an interesting list.

I generally (hah) take the Generals with back ranks of HK...they're the last knights to ever charge, unless you need impetuousity from the other regular knights...and HK in the rear is a tremendous cost savings.

Your CinC and Sub costs are also slightly off...
CinC PA 2E Reg B SHK L,Sh are 230 and Sub 160.

As HK back ranks, you come in at CinC = 203, Sub 133...a 54 point savings which is almost an entire longbow unit, or is a LI unit.

You have 5 knight units...Dave will applaud your use of Irr knights for impetuousity on their own, but tell you you really need 7 units of knights...or at the minimum 6.

Given our experience over the years, Dave and I would suggest you forget the Brigans as utterly useless...and buy none, ever. You'd think they serve some kind of purpose...but they really don't. LI in terrain or the Longbowmen serve whatever purpose you thought you were getting from the Brigans...my prior post here is overly optimistic in the use of non-shooting close order foot.

6 scouting means that...your going to be outscouted constantly, and even lose scouting advantage to infantry armies with no LC!

Dave related to me that this was a significant handicap in our deployment system. I agree, and even though the LC unit available is...poor...take it.

Note also that Stakes do NOT have to be bought in your list. You can adjust your list once you know your opponent and see the terrain on the table to take Stakes by trading in as per the rules.

You may find, as Ewan did, adjusting to get a Wagon Laager (for cover and defended obstacle) OR for Ditch (higher and defended obstacle) is better on some tables against some opponents.

That also enables you to use some downgraded D class longbowmen to save points as if they're going to be behind Wagon Laager or Ditch (or Stakes) their morale is less important.

Reg B longbowmen should be considered for some units...given that they may be required to operate in the Open. Remember that Reg B loose foot are the premiere troops in Warrior.

Finally, a small unit of Irr LI JLS,Sh...are just guys waiting to die...not guys holding any terrain feature. Take no Irr LI JLS,Sh if not required...anywhere...ever...excepting certain very limited circumstances (which are not present here).

Thanks Frank

doing things quickly so mistakes are made.....

New list

I know about getting more than 5 units is ideal and maybe sacrificing the Brigan unit and a unit of LI make it work for another regular unit is certainly an option.

Personally don't love TF - I get the need and all that and so on, but don't love the use of them making for stagnated battles even if it costs me so wins.

Here is my newer version as per your suggestions. I would rather have a few more longbowmen as that is why I made the list.

1604 points – 16 scouting

2E Gascon Knights Ir B SHK L,Sh 133

6E English Longbowmen Reg C LMI LB ½ Sh – stakes 100
6E English Longbowmen Reg C LMI LB ½ Sh – stakes 100
6E English Longbowmen Reg C LMI LB ½ Sh – stakes 100

4E English Longbowmen Reg C LHI/LMI LB ½ 2HCW,Sh – stakes 86
4E English Longbowmen Reg C LHI/LMI LB ½ 2HCW,Sh – stakes 86
4E English Longbowmen Reg C LHI/LMI LB ½ 2HCW,Sh – stakes 86
4E English Longbowmen Reg C LHI/LMI LB ½ 2HCW,Sh – stakes 86

4E Irish Kerns Ir C LI B ½ Sh 45
2E Welsh Reg C LI B ½ Sh 22
2E Welsh Reg C LI B ½ Sh 22

4E Irish Cavalry Ir C LC Jls,Sh 73

while we're on the topic.... Wink

I take the D LMI for option w/ a ditch and ditch(hah) the brigans...I guess I see their appeal but in an army that is fluid/needs to choose their spot it just really dosen't make sense in my mind. my LB don't have shields as they live in skirmish/follow something up after K go in..I've played ~5 games with this list and have yet to have that bite me in the ass!

li for woods/screening

Ben,

Love the different look - I do think you are 2E over for LB unless I'm reading the list wrong.

I guess I'm just missing playing for real these days and make lists to help me get my fix of warrior.

Love the different takes on lists and thoughts from Frank as well.
