Those rules (and really the discussion) assume that we're still under largely-uncontrolled covid conditions. In which case I'm a definite no: if I have stopped playing soccer when it moved indoors (and I have, and I hate it) because the risk is too high, no way am I spending time in a convention hall. [And it's a high-risk environment as Scott notes: extended duration, relatively low airflow, high-risk population most of whom I do not know and/or trust.]
If we have widespread vaccine and it's at least a month after I've been vaccinated, then sure. That will not be reasonably known until late Feb at earliest, likely. It's quite possible, but depends on a lot of stuff, most of which I am not able to discuss . My guess is that at that stage it is too late to have an event anyway.
Meanwhile - ObPSA - please, all: stay home, wear masks, don't socialise. This winter is going to suck and you *are* going to lose friends / family. Please minimise that. |

So - for me the format was a decider - but I would only attend if the healt situation warranted - I did not attend this years cold wars because I thought it was unsafe/unwise - would use the same criteria for 2021 - or basically What would Ewan do.... I have high hopes for Historicon however |

Hello all... I know that my input is way late - apologies. I'm not planning to travel before May 1 (I have an event then I can't miss). Add in uncertainty about vaccination, high risk venue, wearing a mask for 12 hours(???), I'm not planning to attend.
Scott, my two cents are - don't risk traveling for such a small, dubious event. Enjoy the Masters in the comfort of your own chair.
Hope all is well with everyone - hope to see you all in the summer!

From a broader context, the only other group who will submit a slate of events is ADLG. Their GM is of the attitude is it doesn't hurt to submit and simply tell people that they should not expect a massive turnout. He quite frankly expects the entire convention to be cancelled by the state and that this process is simply HMGS's approach to not getting hit with cancellation fees, etc.
With that in mind, I've talked this over with Scott McD and we're gonna do the same thing. And although I think the following is problematic from a risk standpoint, it's what we're allowed to do and follows the state guidelines.
Friday: Mini in 25mm like always.
Saturday: Doubles like always, only in 15mm. Since we can only play on 6x5 tables with no more than 4 people per table, this fits.
Scott McD will be there and ump/coordinate this. I will not attend. I also think the overall con will be a repeat of last year in that nobody will attend.
More as things develop. Start scraping together 15mm lead and a partner if you plan on going.

While I have all my old 15mm lead...(quite a few armies)...I'm not flying across the country in April, pretty much.

I was planning on using the holidays to pull together all my 15mm lead and sell it - as I dont see myself using it again - now you have convinced me to keep it gathering dust for another 10 years - lets see - not planning on it, but I would love it to be a reasonable plan |

I would love to play 15s again occasionally and kinda regret that the move to 25mm has caused an entry barrier, even though Bill Low solves that for us already in the know . |
