Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
WarriorRules group:
Scoring system. Currently, scores are adjusted with a % of
opponents' scores equal to 10x your score against them (so a
5-point win gives you 50% of that opponent's score; a 1-5
loss 10% and so on) as a 'strength of schedule' adjustment.
Because you get a % of your opponents' *total* score, it's
better (by 1.5 points) to win 5-3 than 5-0, which (to me)
seems ludicrous.
Question: would players prefer this to be altered so that
you get a % of opponents' scores *excluding* the games
played against you?
o Yes: alter to remove the bonus from giving your opponents kills
o No: keep the system as is

Not that I want to sway anybody here but, the above scenario was
written into a test scoring spreadsheet 10 years ago. Even in the
most bland, straightforward tourneys, it came up with the most
bizarre results imagineable a whole bunch. From memory, we had
instances where somebody who would have placed 3rd or 4th in either
the basic 5-0 format or the weighted system came in 1st. And this
kind of cockeyed results happend waaaaay too often.
I went the extra mile for Ewan on this one, taking the time to work
out a fairly complex spreadsheet scoring system, playing 2-3
tourneys with it, and plugging in numbers from a dozen other already
completed tourneys. The "really hosed up rate" was something like
75%. That's why it was dropped
It didn't pass the smell test or even came close to it. And yet,
here we are, ten years later, *still* flogging this dead horse.
Every system has quirks. This one has been doing fine for more than
ten years now.
