We try here in DFW to conform to the world at large so we have discontinued
the practice.

>>> I heard that conformity was the last refuge of the unimaginative! That
said... we try to conform too. Makes it a lot easier if you play at a con
or at another group's table.

Did someone actually write a fog of war x-rule or was this all just discussion?

Since I started the mess, err, discussion, I will get something to you
shortly. I was waiting until the discussion ran its course to see what
interesting ideas would pop out in the end. Just let me brush up on my
legalize and practice writing in triple negatives :)

Proposed X-Rules...
Fog of War Scouting Points
During Step 5 of the Pregame Sequence (3.1), each side calculates scouting
points according to 14.41. This number is referred to as the actual scouting
points total. Each side then records a number of declared scouting points
that must be equal to or less than the actual scouting points total. For the
remainder of the game, the declared scouting points total is used in all
cases involving scouting points. This includes determining which side is
outscouted (14.41) and which side has the greater scouting points total for
purposes of deployment (14.43). Both players should write the declared total
so that they may simultaneously reveal these numbers to one another during
the Pregame Sequence - Step 5.
Fog of War Flank Marches
Both sides are required to roll for flank marches to both flanks according
to the standard rules (14.45) regardless of whether there are units given
such orders. If a 5 or 6 is rolled and there is no flank march actually
arriving, the player announces that there is no flank march and ceases to
roll for that flank.
