I'm confused by your use of the word SIDE edge to describe how an
element of a detachment must touch its parent unit.

Especially to those coming from a DBx background, elements have
front, rear, and side edges and the word side has a particular
connotation. Especially since you said "side edge" and not "full
side" or "full edge"

But clearly, from the examples, detachments can be located in the
front or rear of parent units.

Also, are there any maneuver mechanics required when re-joining, or
when the bodies touch do you just auto-magically pick up the pieces
and put the detachment into the rear of the parent? Hope so, seems
simpler.

How do you determine the useful size of a detachment? Apparently
Viking Bersekers can be effective with only 2 elements.
