I have uploaded to the ListLore file an excel spreadsheet containing
all of the NICT 2004 lists previously advised by Scott. It is in a
common format for each of the 25 lists.

The lists submitted to Scott were all over the place, with scant
details in many instances. I have not gone back and costed all
items, but have added in some details where omitted. Due to the
difficulty in understanding some of the details, it is not
guaranteed to be 100% accurate, but should be close.

I would suggest that Scott requires all 2005 NICT participants to
prepare their lists in a similar common format. It would make it
much easier to check armies, and for all others to peruse afterwards
to see what these 'guns' are using.

Trust this is of assistance.

Personally - as a gamer now and not as a member of FHE - I use the excel
spreadsheet version of the army form included in the rulebook. I have made it
so the points column sums to a total. I have made one column so I can in-game
assign my troops to commands and I use the bound-by-bound boxes to record my
charges, whether they are unprompted, whether they are impetuous and whether
they include a wheel and in what direction.

Among the 12 players in our KC group, I think there are 10 different army forms
being used. They are either modifications of the original excel, something new
in excel or something new in another format. Despite the fact that I would
think mine would work for anyone, I do realize that everyone has very particular
taste when it comes to how information is presented. I suppose that if I were
running the NICT I would ask for a common format in terms of just the list and
its point costs for ease of checking, but I would never ask the players to use a
common format in-game - its just too personal. Besides, any effort I'd make in
the area of commonality would be spent forbidding the use of WRG 7th
charts....lol

But I especially don't see Scott trying to herd us cats in any such direction...
:)

Now, as a member of FHE, I *do* want to give the new player *something* in the
way of an army form in the rulebook. I will be reviewing all the forms in the
files section soon and try to capture the best ideas from all. So if you have a
form you like, please post it. Also, no matter what 'standard' form we put in
the rulebook, we encourage players to use what they like and to keep them here
for others to see and use.

>You know me too well and I know the players too well:)SmileSmile I have
bigger issues on my plate than insisting on getting stuff in an
identical format. I do my lists up longhand, I don't like
spreadsheets for that sort of thing. For the NICT, as long as I get
something in any electronic format that I can marginally read, I'm
happy. Plus, there's plenty of things that make me unhappy:)Smile:)

>Positively fantastic idea. Getting anyone new into this game is
hard enough. Giving them some cool playing aids, and list
concoction software is a playing aid in my book, can only help.

Long ago, when Excel was in version 1 or 2, I did a spreadsheet with
a macro that would do points. But the newer versions of Excel will
no longer read those old versions, and in fact causes a crash.

One trick I did to minimize the number of columns required was to put
all the weapons in one cell, and have the macro count the number of
commas to determine how many weapons to charge for. I think I had to
put in an extra comma for one weapon that cost double.
