Could anyone asist with recommending 25mm Chinese figures, most
probably Chin era but any would be good. Manufacturers and contact
or website details would be great, but they appear hard to find.

My honest appraisal, huh? I think the Dixon Chinese are excellent - some of
the best 25mm figs out there - no flash, clear lines, good variety. I think
Irregular are good for masses of D and E troops. :)

Murray,

There is presently a painted 25mm Han Chinese army for sale in the
Tin Soldier in Sydney for $800. They are Hinchcliffe figures and the
same as the ones you have seen Martin use as Chin in competitions
recently.

thanks Jon - how would you compare either of these ranges to say
Foundry, Gripping Beast or Front Rank in terms of finished effect,
variety of pose etc.

Try amazon Miniatures:
www.amazonminiatures.com
Paul bought all the old Garrison/SKT and QT ranges. QT has a Chin range. Paul
has also produced some other Chinese ranges, and I believe he intends to cover
all of Chinese history eventually.

Old Glory now carries a line of Han Chinese in 25mm to include both 2 and 4
horse chariots. They have some LC some HC, and both armored and unarmored
spearmen and crossbowmen. There may be some more, but those are what I
remember. I was looking as I am looking at actually starting an eastern
army. We are pretty much "western-philes" out here in Tejas. But that is
changing. ;^)

You can use the same figures as Han Dynasty. I don't remember but I think Irr
egular makes these. At the risk of sounding too nepotistic here, Jake carries
Irregular.

I'll be the first to admit that unpainted, Irreg figures are the ugly duckling
s of 25mm. But come round and see my Sung/Yuan/Mongol and Burgundian 25mm arm
ies and I bet you'll be pleasantly suprised at how they *can* paint up. They
are particularly good for dipping.

mm (Jake already has em) to go along with my 15mm version of the army. I love
the Yuan list even tho I can't play it worth squat and I'm always amazed that
no one fields Khitan Liao, it's sorta the Byzantine list of the Orient. And
it's a period (or place or both) that lends itself well to both scales.

shields. You get a sneak preview in some ways, to how this will look by peru

Don't forget to check out Amazon Miniatures. They have the old Garrison/SKT
Sung with all the old weird and wonderful artillery stuff, and the QT Chin.
They have also put out a few new Chinese ranges on their own, and intend tocover
all of Chinese military history.

Amazon Miniatures is having a weird half-price sale. It will change from day
to day. On Jan 2/3, Han archers and Han halberdiers will be on sale at half
price for 30 for 12 pounds. On Jan 6/7, the same for Qin. This will go on
until Jan29, different sale every day. They suggest that you keep checking
in, because the sale will change every day.

www.amazonminiatures.com

Do with this what you will.

I own a lot of Partha 25mm stuff and their Chinese stuff is well sculpted, nic
e detail, etc. It's also *true* 25mm. But, I've seen a couple of the armies
in tournies and didn't really like the way they looked. Coulda been the paint
job, I dunno. People either really love Partha's ancients stuff or detest it
. I think it has its own quirky charm that makes fielding an army of it's fig
ures kinda neat. My 1st Crusade list for CW is entirely Partha. Lord knows i
t's cheap to buy at the shows.
