I am sure someone else will chime in as well. Irregular Miniatures
makes decent Khmer and Champa that are inexpensive. I believe that they
make other Oriental figures as well. According to Scott Holder, Irregular
is ideal for his "dipping method" of painting too.

Another figure line to try out is Warrior Miniatures at
www.warriorminiatures.com.
They have two lines, the Crusade line which is a 100 piece
army for 25 English Pounds plus shipping and their Warrior line which is
30 English
Pounds plus shipping. The Warrior line has Samurai and Mongols, the Crusade
line has Eastern Europe and other Medievals. The Warrior line is the
more extensive
of the two. I believe that the Crusade line is an older figure line that
they bought out.
I bet Scott could identify them.
