Can anyone give me any clue how these were rigged? I have a bunch of 25mm
Ral Partha chariots, and want to experiment with some rather odd models.
Any help or hints on modelling advice for these would be appreciated.
Thanks

I could only imagine how you could do this, probably with two bars extending out
from the chariot body and a crossbar running along the end. One horse would fit
between the two bars running out from the chariot with one on each side, and all
three behind the crossbar.
This is only a guess of course. But it is one way to rig it without having a
horse with a bar up his butt.

I got a reply on ancmed from Nigel Tallis, The Man:
"As a two-horse, but with an extra set of reins, no yoke-saddle, and the
breast-strap secured to the outer end of the yoke on one side. I give a
bibliography and discuss the subject in AANE, and in more detail in my
MA thesis on C9th BC neo-Assyrian chariotry."
It seems that the horse was only loosely attavhed, maybe as a spare (?), and
that this facillitated turning. The "spare" horse would be on the left for
a right handed archer. It certainly seems easy to model this in 25mm.
