For those of you who don't know, WRG is playtesting a new set of rules that
is essentially a new edition of DBM. I have seen it and know some of the
playtesters. As a former DBM player, I would characterize the current playtest
version of DBMM as a significant change - by that I mean if this version or
something like it survives, many armies will not play the same way that they do
under DBM 3.0.

Yes, it is true that this is *exactly* what I got into FHE to avoid and what
I will not allow to happen to our players. Yes, we want all former DBMers to
feel welcome here and come play our rules. There are many DBMers who are very
unhappy right now, and it would not be right to add to it by a lot of 'I told
you so' or some such. We want to encourage them to try our rules and give
them a fair shake. We want to assure them that what is happening in DBM world
right now will never happen here. I would like to have that happen by having
all of us continue to maintain the high standards we have in the Warrior
community for discourse.

Anyone can debate the merits of and compare our and any other ancient rules
set here. Please encourage any DBMers you know to join us and ask questions so
they can make an informed decision about their future.

A couple of don'ts:
-Don't post the DBMM playtest rules here. They are supposed to be for
playtesters only. (although I had three copies sent to me just today... lol).
Let's not be a part of that.
-Whatever we think of Phil Barker's decision to take this course, let's not
debate that specifically. There are hard feelings enough out there about this
- I don't think its our place to add to it.
-Let's stick to facts. DBMM is in playtest - there is no guarantee that
whatever Phil ends up doing will look like the document that exists today. I
know
how I'd feel if someone were circulating a draft of Warrior Battles or
Fantasy Warrior and commenting on it all over the place and spreading rumors.
In
fact, much of the 'discussion' of DBMM on various groups right now is pure
speculation and not actually in the playtest rules. Let's try and help him
control
that.

Yes, they are our competitors. But they are also our brothers.

Jon
