Ok, there was a deafening silence from you history buffs the last time I

asked for some guidance, so I am trying this again.

Does anyone have any information that they can give me to help me paint some

Bactrians from say the 4th and 5th centuries BC? I am contemplating adding

a Bactrian contingency to my Later Acheamenid Persian army and am having no

luck in finding specifics.

I have one blurb in the WRG book on the Macedonian and Punic wars that shows

a mounted individual in what seems to closely resemble Median dress, but no

mention on colors, patterns, etc. There is nothing on the infantry at all.

I have looked unsuccessfully for the Montvert books on the Bactrians and the

L. Ach. Persians – they appear to be out of print or unavailable in the US.

I have found several articles on the internet regarding the area and the

history, but nothing graphic in nature that would shed any light (except for

a photo of a Chinese vase showing a Bactrian merchant on a camel).

So I am looking for:

Colors and patterns (if any)

Shield shapes for the infantry (crescent pelte?)

Armor (helmets, on down), if used

ANYTHING that would help shed some light here.

Thanks.

Todd,

If you know of where I can locate the Montvert books, please let me know.

The outlets that I am aware of do not have any copies (new or used).

However I have been doing this long enough to know that these things can pop

up out of nowhere...

Thanks for the TMP help, but still a bit fuzzy on details needed to buy and

paint something close to accurate....

There is a wonderful 2-part Montvert publication that covers the Bactrians.

It's name escapes me at the moment but it's at home on my stack of OW-related

crap. If I remember, I'll post the name, title, etc.

I bought mine online. On Monday, if I remember, I'll post the book's

particulars so you can order a copy from any of the online book moguls.

You can also probably get a copy via the On Military Matters folks, FHE's blood

enemies on the tabletop:) :)

Scott,

AFAIK it's Montvert Publications...apparently they are

like Ospreys in a sense.

Brookhurst Hobbies at www.brookhursthobbies.com

carries them.

I would think if you called them up and asked for the

Montvert Publication on Bactrian Greeks (The Author is

a guy by the name of Nick Secudo if I am reading the

posts right) they should be able to help you.

Todd,

I have checked with Brookhurst before and they did not have any in stock and

were doubtful of receiving any new copies soon.on a lark after reading your

post, I contacted them again and it is now in fact in stock.

Thanks for the push.
