Has anyone experience affixing Essex or other flat-backed shields to
figures? I'd appreciate any info on technique or even if this
isn't an issue (just glue the things on). I'd like them to
look good though.
I didn't want to reinvent the wheel when there's a depth of
experience out there.
Thanks in advance,

All of the foundry shields I have had experience with have a deep groove
behind the shield boss. I like this so much that I have taken up the process
with all of my old glory shields. Goes a long way towards eliminating the
detachable shield syndrome. This idea works very well.

Howdy,
The mailman just delivered an Essex 25mm army and I noticed that
their shields have flat backs, i.e. no notch to fix to the
figure's hand as with other manufacturers. I was thinking of
using a Dremel to etch out a groove or depression on the back of the
shields as a "hand grip".

I have not run into this particular situation, but when I run into similar
issues my first thought is dowels. Drill holes in both the hand and the
shield and attach with a dowel. I just wouldn't drill all the way through
the shield.
