As promised, here is a superb book on the post-1204 AD Byzantine armies. Great
history, *very* detailed.

The Late Byzantine Army, Arms and Society, 1204-1453
Mark C. Bartusis
University of Pennsylvania Press
Philadelphia PA 19104-6097
ISBN: 0-8122-1620-2

This book is part of the Middle Ages Series edited by Ruth Mazo Karras. A
complete of the books can be gotten from the publisher. I haven't done an
internet search on this yet but will.

Another absolutely spectacular book in a different period is:

Antigonus the One-Eyed and the Creation of the Hellenistic State.
Richard A. Billows
Unversity of California Press
Berkely CA 94720
ISBN: 0-520-20880-3

I picked up both of these at the British Museum in London about a year and a
half ago. Go figure, two books published in America that I discovered overseas.
Just goes to show you what a good bookstore can do. Both of these books are
highly useful to us in that they detail campaigns, ally participation, army
compositions, etc., as well as the usual "so and so rebelled against so and so,
they fought at "X" in such and such a date, yadda yadda yadda".

Finally, an oldie but a goodie that isn't specifically applicable to Warrior but
remains one of the best books on an always-overlooked aspect of ancient/medieval
warfare is:

Alexander the Great and the Logistics of the Macedonian Army.
Donald W. Engels
University of California Press
Berkeley CA 94720
ISBN: 0-520-04272-7

If you are on a budget, obviously purchase FHE products first:)SmileSmile Then go get
these.
